Re: Alliants new Power Pro 2000mr
This was done at 100 yards with my 17 year old rifle. The barrel has a whole bunch of rounds through it and it does have some pitting here and there, but it shoots pretty well when I point it straight.
I am using virgin WW cases, Fed 210M primers, Alliant Power Pro 2000-MR powder, and Nosler 175 gr Custom Competition bullets seated to 2.800" OAL.
Gun:
Rem 700PSS
.308 Win
+20 MOA mount
Leupy Vari-X III 8-25x40
Bipod
Rear bag
Ambient conditions:
Time of day: 08:00-11:00
Barometer: 25.9
Sky: Sunny
Temp: 90°F
Humidity: 16%
Altitude: 4250'
Density altitude: 7830'
Wind: 0-5 mph from 5:00
Powder charges:
1. 46.0 - 2662 fps - SD=44 - ES=87
2. 46.3 - 2688 fps - SD=39 - ES=80
3. 46.6 - 2695 fps - SD=18 - ES=34
4. 46.9 - 2735 fps - SD=30 - ES=57
5. 47.2 - 2711 fps - SD=14 - ES=27
6. 47.5 - 2740 fps - SD=15 - ES=31
7. 47.8 - 2729 fps - SD=15 - ES=31
I went back to the range today and shot 6 groups that ranged from 47.2 - 47.7 in 0.1 gr increments. The 200 yard berm was not available, so I had to settle for 100 yards. These were shot round robin with cooling time between each set of 6 shots. The #1 target below is the same powder charge as #5 above. I will play some more with 47.4-47.5 gr and see what a 10 shot group looks like.
It was slightly cooler today as it was only 80°F when I shot these. My first outing last weekend was shot on a bench with a bipod and rear bag. This round was shot with a Wichita front rest and rear bag.
