Gunsmithing Another build thread.

Re: Another build thread.

I should've played closer attention on here but recently in the past 2 years I started to notice Chad's post's! What a regretfull oversight on my part!! One of the most understated talents on here. Spoke w/ him once; and impressed me even more then pix of his masterpieces. His creds are very impressive and a great guy to boot. I am going to have to give him a try!

You won't be unhappy! Chad is top notch!

Re: Another build thread.

These Longrifles Inc. threads were a great way to kill an hour or so. And at the same time make myself (a Mech Eng) feel like a complete idiot! I would love to spend 2 weeks in your shop just watching and learning sir.

Re: Another build thread.

Damn Chad you sure know how to male us novices/hobbiests feel insecure. Keep up the great work, love the build threads. Glad to see you have become a sponser here. If I were not really great friends with my current smith, and did not do most of my own work......I would have you busy.

Re: Another build thread.

Very nice work! Thanks for posting your pictures and procedures.

When you install barrels, what procedure do you like to use? I've been experimenting using some aluminum (non-marring) "wrenches" that I made and for now I'm using 80ft-lbs with moly-grease on the sliding surfaces. At least that seems pretty repeatable because I can change out barrels and the zero stays put.

Also, do you ever bed below the barrel, or is the barrel completely free floating from the lug forward?
