I've had this rifle for over a year now, put about 2000 rnds through it. shot off of barricades and such with no chipping. I think that if this were a molded style stock (ie the rubber feel), i would have seen a lot more wear. I have been very satisfied with the dip.

"gel-coat" on a rifle stock is not equivalent to a "gel-coat" on a boat hull. Ever been to see a boat hull made? And I'm not talking your Nitro you have out back on the trailer...

Laffin'!!!

Hey! You are about 1/4 of the way there. I hear McMillan just got a fresh shipment of marine grade clear coat. better call em up and get it applied while you can!
Those 3 are about this size....

It's 90 bucks to get a stock dipped around here. After they dip it, the guy puts several coats of some kind of clear over it for protection. You have to damn near blast it to get it off.

Every McMillan stock I have ever had with the gel coat has either chipped easily or had some weird haze in certain areas. I know why they do the gel coat but I think its old technology. These newer molded in camo patterns are super tough.
I have a McMillan A5 that is hydro dipped and clear coated and its as tough as nails. I shoot it off rocks, fences, ATV's and so on. It has not hurt the finish one bit. But I also spent the $30.00 for a SOTECH Skid plate and that take care of any issues concerning a barricade.

I see that you are from South Louisiana. I had Hydreaux Graphics in Baton Rouge do mine. He dipped the Mcmillan stock in ATACs cammo and then matte clearcoated it for $340.00 Came out nice and is seems to be very durable with the clear coat.

Id post a pic but the gun is apart right now. Im getting the barrel and action Cerakoted Patriot Browm by Short Action Customs. Should have it back in a week or 2.
