Suppressors Any one Conceal Carry with pistol light?

Afternoon everyone,
Like the subject says, I want to know who carries concealed and if they utilize a weapon light during their everyday carry. I recently applied for my CCW and am now in a situation where I have to look for appropriate holsters. 2 Good options without weapon light is:

Minotaur MTAC Holster

Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe

Another great option with the ability to add the weapon light is:

Phantom Holster

So I am really looking for Pros and Cons of Concealed Carry with a weapon light and personal insight as to why you carry with or without one.

I carry a M&P 9 with a TLR1s attached in a NTAC kydex holster. I bought the NTAC with clips for IWB or OWB carry. I usually carry OWB even if I am just wearing a T-shirt and shorts; this may not be possible for everyone, but my shoulders are significantly wider than my waist. The NTAC, with a Wilderness Tactical instructor's belt, keeps the M&P tight against my body. I do not think it is harder to conceal my M&P with the light on it compared to without the light, especially regarding IWB. If it is not harder to conceal, then why not utilize the light? I like to have the option of using it if needed. If I am out after dark, I also have a surefire E2DL with me.

</div></div> Funny, I use the Minotaur for my CCW and the RC Phantom with light for work. In any case, no light on my CCW...but I have one on my bedside gun.

Thank you for the comments regarding my question-

The equipment I will be utilizing:
Springfield XDM .40 S&W
Insight WX150 (If I decide to carry the light)

The added bulk of the weapon light doesn't bother me.

So far we have one who carries a light with them during concealed carry and one who only carries one during duty hours.

Seems fair enough to me. I always hear from the community that many individuals who conceal carry have multiple holsters. I may just go that route and pick up both types of holsters (with light without light) just for the ability to choose which I prefer depending on any given situation. Any more inputs will be more then welcome.

I've used a Phantom for several years with an M&P with the Streamlight TLR. It's an issued duty pistol and I prefer to use it off duty as well. The Phantom just recently cracked (its my understanding they switched to thicker kydex since mine was made) and is currently being replaced under warranty.
I've mostly carried the Phantom IWB and find it conceals well and is comfortable.

I plan on picking up the Minotaur MTAC holster first as I can actually replace the Kydex front for different pistols. The Super Tuck and Phantom are created purely for the pistol so I believe this will be a good step. Thanks for the input guys I definitely appreciate it. Still haven't received too many replies about concealed carry with a pistol light, but I guess I will have to make my own decision and spend a bit of money on extra holsters.

The Minotaur is not made with a light. I called and asked, they said no.

Concealed Carry with a light and full size pistol is a nogo in 90+ weather for me. I tried several times. You will have to spend the money and try it yourself to learn the lesson most likely though.

I didn't think that the Minotaur MTAC holster allows me to use a light. I know the Phantom can be made to carry a pistol with light... I just may have to purchase many different variations before I am satisfied like everyone else. I appreciate the input about comfort with the light and a full size pistol.

I will probably start with the Minotaur simply for the reason that I can change out the Kydex front on it to use it with multiple pistols. This will probably allow me to experiment until I am satisfied with the combination that I will be using during the different seasons.

Oh,
In that case, the holster is likely to be very comfortable. I won Tucker Gunleather's "The Answer" which is nearly the same thing and it was nice.

I'm totally against "clips" and kydex ones at that for retention purposes though. Way too easy to pull the whole shebang out and have the gun taken from you. My buddy found out the hard way at a SouthNarc class.

Leather loops is a much better solution.

Thank you for the intel on the clips... I heard stories about personnel getting stripped of their weapon when they were wearing paddle holsters but nothing negative about clips. I suppose the RC Phantom would be the best option if I had any retention worries (due to providing loop butterfly option that strings through the belt... sorry about the horrible explanation)

I have read some of the articles on your web page and I appreciate the insight you provide on numerous topics.

I have used the Phantom with an XD and Surefire both inside the pants and outside and just once with no pants just a belt. Two out of the three are very comfortable both for me and everyone around me.
I usually carry this set up in the winter when its dark when I close up the shop.

I have an XD9 with a Veridian X5L that I sometimes carry in a shoulder rig. It's big but with a large shirt or coat it's fine.

I've not carried a full sized pistol much so it's a psychological hurdle as much as a physical one. Once I'm more used to it, I'll relax more.

I carry concealed all the time where I live , and have a sub-compact xd 40 with night sights . And thats all you need . Carry however you want to, your choice obviously . But that note , the purpose of a ccw is to carry concealed .

I've used probably every holster ever made. I'm still using a Phantom, Glock 19 w/ Surefire X300.

I've been seriously thinking about adding a Surefire x300 to my CCW and carrying it. I've always said to myself that I wouldn't carry a pistol with an attached light concealed, but I'm slowly leaning that way. It's an inner turmoil...LOL. The Phantom seems to be one of the best holsters available right now.

Heard nothing but good things about RC Phantom Holsters the only issue I suppose is the amount of time it takes to get one. I don't remember what the exact time was, but somewhere in the ball park of 12 weeks for delivery...

Well if they don't stock one, they have to find the gun then mold one to fit. Mine was molded with an extended slide release, and my gun doesn't have one. I also had to pay a bit more for the Rail Lock version instead of the normal U-rail Surefire X300 mount.

It took me a while to finally bite the bullet because to me it seemed "flimsy". But Ive put it through hell and it holds up!

I carry a light on my mag holder. I have also seen mag holders that have rails for pistol mounted lights that you can carry off the gun and mount as needed. I am thinking of trying such a device.

For CC purposes... I don't know how I am supposed to train myself to remove the pistol light from the mag carrier then place it onto the pistol after I draw it from my holster for "identification of a threat" purposes. I guess that is just me though.

I've been told that too. Either separate them, or always combine them.

Granted there are some challenges with the rig I mentioned, but I try to be careful about making absolute standards. Its actually not much more to place the light than to assume a Harries stance with a conventional light.

I can think of some scenarios where such a rig would be helpful. I would advise that if you barely have time to draw and fire that your situational awareness sucks. I guess that's the diference between reading about it and actually doing it.

Its actually easier than you think. You also have the option of using the gun light as a conventional hand held flashlight as well. Look I am not going to fall on my sword over this, I am just willing to open up to some innovation.

I am not sure if I came off offensive... wasn't my intention Fast Eddie. I like to keep things simple. I am not a door kicker if that's what you are referring to in this statement "I guess that's the difference between reading about it and actually doing it." I have carried weapons for duty purposes. As a Naval Aircrewman though if I went down in the sand because of our multiple overland combat missions, I would be screwed as I am only given a 9mm pistol.

Hoping I will be accepted into NEIC so I can mess with some more things that go boom and be granted great job satisfaction.

Like I said, the more I have to think about steps during a crisis situation the more things can screw up.

Certainly no offense taken. We all strive for basically the same goal, its the path we take to achieve it that differs.

My point is that a lot of folks read on the Internet about this and that and do not take the time to consider the credentials of the person posting or making a recommendation they feel is valid.

Lots of veterans here on this site and lots of cops. While those skills transfer over to civilian CCW, there are few true "experts" in that stripe of the industry, basically because there are not as many CCW engagements as there are LE engagements or Military engagements. This is compounded by the fact that most CCW engagements (to include those where a weapon is presented but not fired) go undocumented. For the record, I certainly make no claim of being and expert, merely a humble student of the art.

I am blessed to have a job that provides the ability to shoot when I want, what I want. I try to <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">DO</span></span> before I post as opposed to merely reading about it. This is what I meant by reading vs doing.

If i had the option of carrying with a weapon light i probably would. Unfortunately my department doesn't allow it.

I do however use the RCS Phantom holster, everyday. it is the best off duty carry rig i've ever worn, and believe me when i say i have a dresser draw full of holsters.

I have the option of wearing inside or outside the waistband, but i only do IWB. Its incredibly comfortable, and conceals very well. I have cops that i work with that think i forgot my gun sometimes because the printing is kept to a minimum.

Gents,

As I said, we all have the same basic goals here, we merely pursue different paths.

I post here when I have time and all too many times I see guys get angry and insult one another, make vicious statements based on something someone said that they have never even met. I lived my life in an environment whereby the boys showed their love by calling you a Mother F***er, so it doesn't bother me, but we do get a lot of regular guys living their lives that love to shoot and want to protect their kingdom here. Compound that by trying to make a point across multiple cultures with nothing but the written word on an Internet forum. It leads to a lot of misinterpretation.

OK, enough philosophy, back to carrying a flashlight in a CCW environment.

This works for me, altough I admitt in a tussle, it would be easy to lose. This is probably not the final option. (Jesus, that was corny)
