So they kicked Roseanne off for saying something everyone knows she says already. I forget the particulars anyway. But I saw the show come up on Hulu, it comes on the day after it airs I believe. So it's called "The Conners" and I no-shit couldn't sit through the first episode. That rarely happens. But from the get go, it was so full of "opioid crisis" and "suicide" and "gay is okay" and "mixed families" messages (and probably others!) that it made it just unwatchable. I felt like I was watching the new brand of Soviet propaganda, I really did. I've seen old Soviet era material, the "cutting edge" shit, and both were handled about the same. Sick. It's fucked up, "Roseanne" was actually a pretty good show for much of it's run.
And of course it was a "think like us or die" way of getting it across, not like the "very special episode of _____" from the 80's and it wasn't just one issue either, the entire show was an issue. I see that SNL has gone full political now, and may not be worth saving since it's Lorne's baby and he's the one doing it. I turned off cable to get away from the messages, indoctrination, fake media, etc., and now just get it imported via content instead. "Daddy's Home 2" was full of this shit, including firearms too. Fucking can't get away from it unless you watch older stuff like Monty Python or just go dark.
Anybody else notice a huge shift over the last few years in the writing of television shows? Massive amounts of politics and current affairs being written in with the direct intention of telling you how you should feel about it? I can't be the only one.
