Anyone try, or have info on WC867 WC872

I am interested in knowing some more about these powders but don't have any info OL, so I'd figure I'd ask you guys. Anyone have any loads? Interested in loading up for .223, .308, and 3006, but it seems to me that the powder is too slow for anything but 3006. Can anyone comment?

I have experience with WC872. I would think it would be way too slow for any of those calibers. I run it in a 7mm Allen Magnum which is a 7-338 Lapua improved. It's about right for that round running 200 grain bullets.

They are very slow burning powders. I believe originally used in 20mm, though Widener's calls them 50 bmg powders. Not ideal for any of the cartridges you mentioned, but would work in the '06. If you are looking for a cheap powder for all three, I would suggest finding some surplus 4895. It pops up every now and then at GI Brass and Wideners's

Another place to look for surplus is Pat's Reloading.

For 223 and 308 you want WC846 (it loads like H335) and for 308 and 30-06 you want the WC844 (it loads like 4064)

I also shoot the 4895 in a 30-06, it works well and fills the case up with lighter bullets like 150gr's.

EDIT: My dad has 5 or 6 jugs of the "50" surplus powder and it's slow for a 50bmg even, one of his buddies with a 50 BMG rifle uses it under 750 Amax and 800 Barnes bullets.

GI Brass needs to include an lbfm and a handjob for those prices.
