will any ar-15 adjustable gas block also work with an ar-10 barrel?

Really looking at the LMT MWS now and considering through an ops inc on it. Would like to regulate the gas going through the weapon to prevent damage or excessive wear/carbon.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

cool. basically the plan, so far, is the pri one, it looks like the larue low profile, which I really like. Going to take an ops inc supporter collar for an ops inc 3rd model 12 and affix it dead-smack against the gas block and then cut the barrel down(it'll be a 20" LMT SS barrel) so that the ops inc thread mounting brake will be set perfectly to allow:

1) a flush fit with the glass block to allow for a tight more compact fit of the suppressor.
2) allow for any excess gas and crap to be regulated out of the receiver
3) smoother cycling and controlled recoil of the weapon for faster follow-up shots.

Probably going to let mike rock do it if they'll accommodate me.

The PRI block looks to be the best bet. lowest profile, shortest length and seems to have a very sensitive yet sturdy adjustment port. rather than having set modes, I can take a tool and adjust it to the slightest degree necessary.

Basically take that puppy once it's set up and replace the barrel on an LMT CL setup and hopefully the end result will be a compact m110-ish rifle with better performance. Going to try and get an FDE prs stock with the limbsaver pad from bushmaster. We'll see what happens. Got the can and a vortex viper HD waiting here at home for it. Probably going to use my bobro mount.

I was going the OBR route but was then informed by larue that we'd have to do the modifications manually and it's just too much of a pain in my opinion. With this, all that's required is simply remove the old barrel and bolt in the new one(in a manner of MINUTES), headspace that bitch and we're good. On top of that save myself about $800 from what I can tell in getting the prs, geissele and miad.

They do not make one that fits the .875 barrels. Ask me how I know

They do and it's what I run (look on their "products -> whats new" page) on my 24" T barrel.

Paladin Machine Service will make you any thing you want. Did for me. I asked what they had for an adjustable gas block and the answer was " a machine shop". I told them what I wanted and a couple of weeks later it was at my door.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

Paladin Machine Service is the way to go. Some people have had a hard time getting ahold of them as I've seen on other forums, but his email is [email protected] and he replied pretty quick. I told him what I wanted, then I sent the money order for $60 and 6 days later I had exactly what I've been looking for but no one else made! a .936 3 way SS adjustable gas block.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I too just ordered and received a Paladin Adjustsble Gas block. It's not on the gun yet so I can't tell you how it functions but it was easy to get a hold of. Just call or email, then send a money order, you should receive it in about a week.

Paladin is the only other one I have seen that is a switch style gas block similar to the Noveske.

***Any body with the Paladin have any input on how well it works or was there a difference once you installed it.***

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I would go with Paladin, I know they can do a 3 way, full/semi/off, which makes adjusting easy. If you want to fine tune, you can just get a screw type.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I have a PRI adjustable low profile I can't use that is .875. Ordered a Criterion barrel from Fulton Armory for a 6.5 CM build. Said it took an .875 gas block. Ordered the parts, barrel arrived and it was a .936. Had already bought it due to the Fulton misprint. If anybody wants it, send me a pm or email.

I ended up going with a JP. Unique design I hadn't seen before. Works great. The gun is so over gassed I have it set at a half turn from full bottom.

If you need a .750 get a Syrac. They are bringing out a .936 model soon.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I have a couple of the paladin machine adjustable gas blocks and they have worked great for shooting suppressed. The one issue I have had with it is that after several hundred rounds of suppressed shooting, the adjustment lever became stuck from carbon build up. I ended up having to take the clip off of it and actually take the knob off to break it free of the carbon. Since then, I make it a point to flip the lever occasionally and I have had no problems since.

Yep, I experienced this so much so that I could no longer move the lever. I even soaked it in the " dip" for three days, then a week and then close to a month. Still frozen! A buddy told me to take it to a jeweler to have the ultrasonic cleaning treatment but I bought a PRI adjustable. I like it better as I can fine tune it to where I want it, no full, 1/2 or off.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

Same thing happened with my Noveske switchblock. I think it's just a fact of physics. I now move it periodically, and no problem.

On the Noveske SB, I just had to use the supplied wrench when "stuck", but if I move it periodically, I can do it by hand.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

Any of ya'll have experience with an adjustable gas block on an AR-10(T) in 260 Remington? I'm planning to get mine threaded for my Liberty Freedom can soon and I'm thinking I should go right on to adjustable gas.

Any ideas if the 1/2 gas position (suppressed) on the three position Paladin gas block will be enough to run the action with a can? I'm shooting mostly 123 gr Scenars over Varget.

Thanks,

-David

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I have a PRI adjustable gas block .875 with straight gas tube new in wrapper I would be glad to sell. I bought a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel from Fulton Armory. The description says ".875 gas block". So I ordered one. Barrel arrived and it needed a .936- a misprint apparently. So now I have this extra gas block...Thanks Fulton.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

For .750 barrels I switched from Syrac to SLR Rifle works. http://slrrifleworks.com/products/da7-black-rifle-gas-management-system

The SLR only takes 1 tool and 1 hand to adjust, the Syrac takes 2. The Syrac can get messed up if you adjust the screw out too far, the SLR wont. The SLR has more positive "clicks" when adjusting. Its just better and costs less!

I damn double posted then accidentally delted both... Anyhow, I'ma have to check those out Johnny. They sound good.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I just shot my LR308 with the Syrac adjustable gas block with my suppressor and I could not shut the gas off. I am not sure if it is just clogged or not. I guess I need to call them. I will buy the SLR "DA7" for my patrol rifle.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I just got the SLR DA7 in and put it on the patrol rifle and put it through its paces today. It is cheaper than the syrac and much simpler and it completely shuts off the gas. It only takes one wrench to turn and you can remove the screw and clean it without harming the block. I am returning my Syrac.

If you don't mind turning a wrench these are great for suppressors. I like that can run it on my patrol rifle and with 6 clicks be completely shut off, or with 3 click run my suppressor with less gas.

Re: Ar-10 Adjustable gas block (low profile)

I like the idea of the 3 position gas blocks, but I know my over gassed rifle would not work well with one. If the gas port was correct our rifle length I would get one
