AR15 BARRELS ???

Re: AR15 BARRELS ???

chrome or go home... j/k - as wolf said, diffrent barrels, different purposes. Chromelined probably the most durable. I think the accuracy differences between different types of stell/materials probably are not as important for most shooters.

Re: AR15 BARRELS ???

not wanting to spend alot. This will be mainly a gun to have fun with at the range. Close quaters and home defense. I am a bolt guy, just want to have one in the safe "just in case". Accuracy has always been important to me. I have a stripped lower in hand. Would like to go ahead and put it to use. My local dealer does alot of business with Rock River.

Re: AR15 BARRELS ???

id say go with a rock river varmint upper with a 18" barrel and a 1:8 twist! It is a heavy barrel, but still for home defense/range work it should do the job! load up a mag of some 75-77gr bullets and anyone that comes into your house you dont like is going to get a nice suprise!

Wow, that's a lot of enthusiasm.

With Chrome Moly you are going to have to have a lot more concern with rust than with Chrome lined (where the chrome lining keeps the moisture away from the carbon steel) or Stainless (which isn't as prone to rust.)

My choices are Stainless, then chrome lined, and then chrome moly. If I'm paying my good money then it's not going to be for chrome moly.
