ARC Coup de Grace Builds

Any issues feeding? I know some posters had issues with the action overhanging the front of the magazine, wonder if its a real issue for someone using factory ammo?
Cut a notch with a mill, just had to do it on a Stiller to run a longer COAL in mags with no binder plate.

Not a big deal at all if needed but my understanding was the long action was cut to run CIP length mags.

Just finished mine and sent the first rounds last weekend. Still working on loads because it’s hard to find data for my caliber of choice 338 Norma Mag, but thanks to others before me on forums I found a good place to start and work up from.
26” Preferred Barrel, Grayboe Phoenix 2, Hawkins M5, MDT mags and COMP Brake.

Probably not a deal breaker, but do AT-X mags work in the CDG builds? I know they are slightly different than the AW mags. My smith just said the CDG was "weird" so it mad me nervous
It's not "weird", it's got some features he's probably not seen before. The pivoting bolt handle for one, but that's about it. Yeah, not a lot of coned breech receivers out there, but the CDG isn't the only one.

Well, here's my 2nd CDG build, I'm truly all in on these! They have became my favorite action by far over all my others including Stiller, Defiance, and Surgeon.

I also decided to jump into the 25creedmoor pool so here's my new stick.

My personal pair of cdg(first day pre-orders) are one trick pony, only run AW mags, the mag well cut doesn't allow an aics up to feed no matter what chassis it's in. The 6gt took a ton of tuning of feed lips and spacer fn around to get it to feed 100%. My archimedes have just ran, 100% br variants, gt, creed, any aics mags without spacers. It's just been bomb proof.

Single feed is almost always more forgiving. My Archimedes feeds everything from the mag flawlessly. However, it struggles with 223Rem fed from on top of the mag lips. 6.5CM and 6.5PRC feed flawlessly from on top of the mag lips.

Curious. You talk to ARC? I have a couple day 1 preorders myself, one was feeding 6mm ARC via MDT mags and .223 Rem via Accurate Mag.

Found a second archimedes and it was basically brand new! They run so much smoother than the CDGs I have. Lifter bolt lift too.

My preference is also for the Archimedes when it comes to calibers that only have single stack mags available. I have 4 Archimedes up and running-- 2x in 223AI, 1 in 20 Vartarg, and 1x in 7 PRC. They're awesome, super smooth actions and the Archimedes with the default 22# striker spring has a smoother and lighter bolt lift than the CDG with a 19# striker spring. I was sad to see them discontinued and had to scrounge the PX to find one for my 20 Vartarg build (I knew there was no chance of getting the small and stubby 20VT to feed in a CDG after some testing, but it runs great from AICS mags or from a single shot sled in the Archimedes.)

If you're running a cartridge that will run out of an AW mag, my preference is for the AW mag over a single stack AICS mag any day, in which case I like the CDG. While I really like my CDG running 22GT out of AW mags, I have no plans to switch my 223AIs, 20VT, or 7 PRC to CDG actions as they're all single stack mag cartridges. Especially the 223AIs, as my Archimedes feeds the 223AIs smooth like butter out of the mag or single loading even running the bolt slowly, where there's been plenty of reports here of the CDG needing a bit of "gusto" to feed and chamber 223AI reliably.

If I build another rifle that will run from AW mags I'll be picking up another CDG. Sometimes I'm tempted to sell my 6 dasher AXSA and replace it with a CDG just so I can have more options for stocks and chassis, but I still have 2 more 6 Dasher barrels for the AI to burn up and I really like the AXSA.

I'd love to know how many CDG's ARC has made compared to the Archimedes... I'm guessing they've already made 4-6x+ more CDG's than the entire run of Archimedes.

Where’d you get that from and what do you think of it?
Had Fritz at Black Canyon Customs modify and coat it for me from a spare handle I bought from ARC, after seeing how @JaredCO had his and how it came out. I really like it and wish I could’ve gotten it this way from the start! I definitely see why people love the AI bolt handle form now

I really like this stock but can't find where to order one.
how much do they go for? it might be perfect for my 22 build coming up...
Unless you’re in Australia you can only get them directly from Benchmark Barrels. They aren’t advertising them. I’d recommend you call or e-mail benchmark barrels directly. They aren’t cheap stocks… definitely over 1k. I don’t remember the exact price.

My suggestion, just get the MDT adjustable dbm. It's pretty badass. Has the same adjustment system for the latch as the new MDT elite chassis.
if I cut it once I'll be done and thanks to the kind fellers at foundation I have some good rough measurements to grind it to tomorrow after I paint again.
always lessons to be learned.

What color is that MPA chassis? Tungsten? Going to be ordering an PMR soon debating between tungsten and black.

Finally got my build done and some initial testing. 6GT, Bartlein, ARC Chassis, ARC mount, Trigger Tech trigger, AI AW mag, etc. Going to do more testing but looks promising, I’ve done some initial velocity testing and here are some groups w/ different bullet jumps using 109 Bergers….the .080 group is sub 1/4 moa, that’s @200 yards.

Looking good. What is your barrel twist, length and barrel length brand? SAAMI specs 6gt chambering?

Correction, the Bartlein is a 4 not a 4R, I have a 6.5 w/ a 5R and got them confused.
I have a ton of H4350 and I'm trying to load the 109 Berger slow at around 2750fps out of a 22in barrel. My concern was not having enough case fill in order to run them at 2750. But looking at your data with 37.3g and 2833, I think I will be okay to get 2750. Are you at full case capacity with 37.3?

I don’t think you will have a capacity problem using Alpha OCD brass trying to achieve that velocity. I would run a ladder test in .2-.3 increments checking for pressure signs along the way. You’ll probably end up around my powder charge? I was going to do some further bench side loading w/ my LE Wilson in line seating die but it was leaving a pressure ring around the nose of the bullet, I had planned on testing more velocities using my favorite “jump” value. I was planning on going up to 38.3 gr. Let us know how it works out👍

Just assembled my CDG .338 Lapua tonight, will have to get some photos to post.

CDG Action
Manners LRH with Micro Chassis
TT Special Two Stage
Hawkins Hunter Bottom Metal
OMR Carbon Barrel, 24"
SRS Ti Pro 4 Brake
SRS Hunter Rail

Rifle weighs 7lbs 15oz. Did have to remove a decent amount of material on the front of the micro chassis rear "pillar" to clear the trigger hanger. First impressions of the action is really good, it feeds smooth and the adjustable trigger hanger really lets you dial in the sear engagement. Excited to get it to the range.
