Anybody having any success? With the weather conditions that we've had this October there has to be quite a few deer hitting the turf. If you've got some pics let's see them. Doesn't have to be just deer either, goats, elk, pigs, prairie dogs, monkey's whatever...post em up.

I'd post a pic of my monkey, but I think this is the wrong forum. That is about all I have seen this season. We haven't had enough cool weather to get the deer moving around and it is pretty quiet on our lease. So far only 1 doe has been shot. We hunt in the middle of the post oak savana here in TX and with as much mast as we have on the ground right now the deer are very hard to pattern. I'm not holding out a lot of hope for seeing something shoot able before gun season opens.

Deer populations are growing here in the South.
Passing up a lot of does as the weather is still so hot that I don't want to fool with the rush to beat the heat.
I did take 2 does this weekend, but was out of town and a processor was close by.
Temps drop this weekend and I will concentrate on the 3 mature bucks that have been hanging out.

I'm embarrassed to say I've hunted exactly one set so far this bow season. Our archery season ends this weekend so it's time to get to it. It has been uncharacteristically warm this season but screw it, I'm going tomorrow am. Pics coming...

Its been pretty warm here in Ohio and the bucks are still running together. Also due to the weather, the majority of beans and corn are still up. I dont typically go out until after the crops come down and the temps drop to get them moving. It also helps in case you happen to make a bad shot and have to back out overnight.

I have had some luck here in CT I have taken two dows this year and have been seeing a lot of more, the problem in CT is that there aren't a lot of big bucks around, I have let two four pointers go so far.

I've been letting immature bucks walk. Hopefully they will get the chance to grow up.
In Utah it was one buck, during a 10 day season.
In TN (in my unit), it is 3 antlerless a day! Plus, 3 antlered for the season. Entire season run 28 Sep to 5 Jan.

We have more deer than humans in Mississippi so they are dying here. This weekend we killed 3 at deer camp. All does. Acorns are thin so we are seeing more on green fields. My 11 year old cousin killed his first with a bow Saturday afternoon. Several really good bucks have been taken by friends already around here.

That's some tough luck on the warm weather fellas. Where I'm at in SD we've have a nice and cool October. It's been in the 20's 3-4 nights already and things are starting to kick off. Just in the past few days scraping and rubbing activity has really picked up and I'm hearing reports of some big deer starting to move around. I'll be diving right into my best spots starting next week and am hoping for some early success. Hopefully I'll have some pics to show for it.

Farmer's Almanac says snow this season. News already says early snow in Illinois.

Have faith, and if you have food plots or hay, and can do it legally, then consider them, at the very least, as a way to help make the next season better.

I'm going to be planning my first food plot for this winter.
We get a good acorn crop, but there is no corn or soybeans within a few miles. I would rather hold the deer we have and draw others in with the food plot.

I will call it success back in Sept. even though it was more of a mercy killing of a one horned bull.

The weather is starting to change here. We had a cool front blow in last weekend and that made hunting a lot more bearable. My game camera is showing a lot of rut activity which I confirmed yesterday afternoon and this morning. The bucks are pretty stupid right now and nothing (neither bucks nor does) is hitting the feeders. We have so many acorns right now that if a deer is hungry all it needs to do is roll over... I put a spike on the ground yesterday evening and am hopeful to see a nice deer this weekend. If not, gun season opens the following weekend...
