On the other hand Rab, Mountain-Equipment, and Arc fit correctly and are just right from the beginning. I'm not crazy about their politics but I've been shit on by the companies that claim to share my same values. In other words, buy the product, not the story.

It's true most would never pay the prices required to get US made for goods. There was an old post on Eberlestock packs way back they did a US based run for a contract, had some of the gear at SHOT, and were asked if they were going to sell to consumers, the answer was basically no, because a $400 pack made in Vietnam was a $1000+ pack made in the USA and no one would pay it.
Our politicians and trade practices (tariffs etc.) have basically sold out the ability of US manufacturing to stay competitive the last 3-4 decades. The reality is most other country's trade laws ensure their domestic manufacturing and such are protected. We did the exact opposite and sold it all out for max corporate profits, such is the way of capitalism after all. It's gone on so long now it's basically no longer feasible to reverse it, or at best it would take decades of painful consumer prices, and corporations accepting lower profits to rebuild American manufacturing to get back on even footing. In other words, never going to happen.

You left out Arc'Teryx's LEAF line (Law Enforcement & Armed Forces) ... that's probably more what many here would be interested in ... and why many of us are bummed by this news.

Ive had my present Arc jacket for close to or more than twenty years....it cost me $400 which I thought was really expensive but over twenty years?
It gets worn pretty regularly and has lasted this long.
I could justify buying a LEAF jacket for that length of service.

Looks perfect for what we do - and I was put onto it by seeing the guy from Tier One wearing one - but at €264 ... it's a stretch.
And OpticsPlanet was recently blowing out the OTTE Gear Alpine Jacket in Ranger Green for only US$130 ... so I'm hoping that one goes the distance.

Profits of the company will flow over seas, which will be used to built new products, R&D, design, etc.. then the newly created product is made in the original factory.
The new product is designed for a foreign market, or at least have influence of it.
Many scientists, engineers, designers, even sponsored athletes miss out on employment because all the profit is over seas. Less jobs for those people involved, and only grunt work production.
