As was said above- the inside edge needs laid back. This was done by hand at Rem prior to glass beading and parkerizing. The relief was filed down to the mounting holes.Thanks.Is there any machining needed to make these work with the Ultra rings?

Sweet, that was the last piece I neededIf you're searching for rear Redfield sight bases to complete a M24 build, the late stockmaster Jim Cloward fabricated copies of the most common versions. This eBay auction currently lists a handful of his remaining WB-490 rear sight mount bases for 30 sheckles each. Remington installed Cloward's on factory M24 after Redfield supply dried up, before converting over to RPA Trakker.
It's named a Flash/Blast Suppressor. So when using the nightvision scope at night it cuts down on muzzle flash signature. It also cuts down on muzzle blast which kicks up dirt & sand if the sniper is prone, giving away his position. Lots of pics from the Irq/Afg warsI remember seeing those flash hiders when the arms room started receiving them, thinking, "What a useless POS."
I don't recall ever seeing anybody using one.

Oh darn, I think it was listed somewhere he had passed. My bad, sorry. Do you know if he still manufactures his bases?Greetings,
Stock maker / Rifle building God, James Cloward, is not deceased.
Jim fully retired several years ago. All his inventory sold.Oh darn, I think it was listed somewhere he had passed. My bad, sorry. Do you know if he still manufactures his bases?
Good luck, I just saw one for sale on the forums yesterday. It sold before I finished reading the ad, and think, “is this a scam?” It was cheap. <1000.Still looking for a leupold ultra 10x m3a, things are getting tough to find anymore.
Look on eBay for L-3/Steiner Fujinon Military M22 7X50 Binocular lens cap covers 70mm/2.75" These are a slip fit rubber cover that should work.Just acquired an M144 spotting scope courtesy of another hide member. It does not have the front lens cover. Based on photos found online, looks like it originally had a binocular style flip off lens cap. Anyone know where to obtain a suitable replacement for this? The external dimension of the front “lip” measures at 66mm almost exactly. Thanks for any help!

Anybody see this ebay auction today
They were absolutely used with 3.5-10sAsking a question to the knowledgeable people on this forum....So I acqired two M24s and one comes with the correct leupold M3 10x scope and the other one is equipped with a Leupold mark 4 3.5-10 FFP, I am not too sure if the 3.5-10 was ever used on the earlier M24s that do not have mccann mirs rail installed. Should I hunt down another Ultra or fix 10x and pay stupid amount for it or just be happy for what I got? What are your thoughts? View attachment 8319205

Find a MIRS maybe? that way at least the rifles have a point of difference
Well if you're wanting to match the scopes to the rings and their period, the rings on the 3.5-10 are the appropriate rings for the Ultra and visa versa. Both rifles are late models so which scope to which rifle is a crap shoot. A MIRS or a MARS would be period correct for the 3.5-10 for sure but some rifles that had MIRS put on them could also use the Ultra scope.Asking a question to the knowledgeable people on this forum....So I acqired two M24s and one comes with the correct leupold M3 10x scope and the other one is equipped with a Leupold mark 4 3.5-10 FFP, I am not too sure if the 3.5-10 was ever used on the earlier M24s that do not have mccann mirs rail installed. @lockedandloaded Thanks for the info. The M22 ARD covers work great! They are pretty inexpensive on eBay, especially since they are both an ARD and a lens cover/protector, and come as a pair too (for those that lose stuff, or like to have backupsLook on eBay for L-3/Steiner Fujinon Military M22 7X50 Binocular lens cap covers 70mm/2.75" These are a slip fit rubber cover that should work.

Single. Were stock m24 triggers single or 2 stage triggers?
Found this on Dvids. First one is 2022, Air Force. Thought it was an interesting hand position. Second is a Marine fast response team. Non standard scope and rings caught my eye.

With a Leupold M1 and high rings it probably belongs to an MP unit, or possibly an allied unit, not Army.Wonder why the fuck a Marine would be shooting a M24?
Recommend you figure our your cheek height for that riser....measure it....and make a sleeve out of plastic or aluminum to slip over the posts underneath the riser. Those cheekpieces suck.Just wanted to share my m24a2 inspired build I recognize some parts are not exactly clone correct but here it is. I'd be fine sending it to you so your machinist can mic it himself. This one fits the early Redfield front sight base. I need a spare lockring that fits the newer OK Weber/RPS Trakker front base. LMK if I can buy one.Does anyone know the thread pitch for the over-the-barrel flash hiders? I'm trying to get extra lock rings (both original and larger thickness versions) made, and cannot find the correct thread pitch anywhere. Thanks in advance!
Wish i had more information on the barreled action.@Rem.243, thats a nice looking build. Its always welcomed to hear about the details like bbl maker, gunsmith, parts, etc.
Just what I needed for my early C prefix m24. Has anyone ordered from them yet?If you need a Redfield front sight base, Freeland's Sports still offers an original spec version. It's stamped with an inverted "A" on the end, and comes with 2 slot-headed screws, not the allen key type used on the M24. Height is .175" correct for alignment with the rear Palma sight. Hole-to-hole spacing is standard .562" to fit factory Remington threaded holes.

Life saver! Thank you. I almost just gave up and went with the Redfield .225 sight.I just got one, its pictured
Technically you could use the .225 height because the Palma has an adjustable sight gradiant (dont know what its called, it has the tick markings on it and slides up or down).Life saver! Thank you. I almost just gave up and went with the Redfield .225 sight.
Probably never use it. Just needed the front sight for looks. Thank you!Technically you could use the .225 height because the Palma has an adjustable sight gradiant (dont know what its called, it has the tick markings on it and slides up or down).
