Hello all. I'm looking to remove the mushiness in my Athlon Ares turrets. I prefer to not remove the o-ring. After some searching I found that a common solution is to clean out all of the factory grease and replace with Team Associated Green Slime. Unfortunately, it seems that the Green Slime grease is hard to come by atm. I've checked Amazon + some random hobby sites, but its unavailable everywhere. Has anyone used any alternatives? Maybe something like SuperLube silicon grease.

a light mineral oil is what I used. like a sharpening stone oil...or a sewing machine oil. It left the perfect amount of mushiness.
It's mostly a preference. For me, improving the clicks while also retaining the waterproofing is an optimal state.
Having dealt with the mush of the old style of turrets on an Argos BTR, you're going to just want to remove the o-ring and keep it in a baggy in your rifle case for if it rains. I used the Team Associated green slime on my turrets and it helped, but as mentioned by others the difference was night and day once I removed the o-ring.
You already have to remove the turret cap to re-zero, so just keep the o-ring with you and pop it on real quick while checking zero if it's a rainy day.

I'd bet you'll soon need a new O-ring. Mineral oil is usually petroleum based and will slowly swell/degrade many O-rings, only use a silicone or lanolin based lube unless you know the composition of the O-ring.
Kinda like using Vaseline on a rubber condom....only not as dangerous!
A carbon based rubber o-ring needs petrolatum (AKA Vaseline).
Silicone based o-rings need silicone lube or they will roll and tear.
The advantage to rubber is they are slightly firmer.
The disadvantage to them is the petrolatum changes viscosity depending on the weather.
Silicone o-rings are softer, but maintain their elasticity regardless of the weather.
