I’ve read that it is normal for a factory barrel to speed up during breakin. My question is does this usually happen quickly? I am about 200 rounds down the tube and it picked up 100fps in the last 50 or so rounds. Up till then it was pretty consistent. And on to my next question

How temp sensitive is acceptable for factory ammo. These are the same ammo Berger 6.5 creedmoor 130grn different lots and 47* warmer and was getting 100-120fps faster.

Answer 1: there is no “exact amount” of rounds a barrel needs to settle down. Generally it’s around 200. I wouldn’t start load development before that
Answer 2: that’s why most people reload. Factory Ammo is inconsistent and, most of the time, there is no way of knowing what components are used. Therefore there is no way of knowing how temp stable it is.

I understand it’s normal and there is no exact amount. My question was does this usually happen in a “jump” over a few round( ex 175-200 rounds) or is it usually more of a creep up over all the rounds.
