has anyone built there own external battery paks or battery extension tubes for theses scope? doesnt look like rocket science but the cost of the units im finding seem rather expensive anyone got anything they have made to post pics of ?

we have a lathe can you tell me the overall length of that tube inside and outside? is that brass? nice job i cant swallow 250 bucks for that since we can make our own. i also have a reap ir but that is a shorter tube with shorter batteries they told me i cant interchange them cause they use different voltage? id like to just make 2 of the same so i can use the same type of battery and charger for both units i really appreciate your help!

The reap with the factory extension for 2 cr123a batts just needs a single Sanyo 16650zta 2500mah to run it for around 2-1/2 hrs. The Sanyo battery needs a 4.35v charger to charge it to full capacity. The mkii uses 2 16650 batts with the extension.

Off hand minor cut 20.11 major 20.50 .75 mm thread pitch threads start about 5 mm from end. I will add length when I get a chance to measure it.

If they are flattops you need a small baby aspirin size chrome/nickel plated magnet on the positive end to make contact with the end cap.

I use the harbor freight magnets that come in a small plastic tube for a couple $$$

Sanyo 16650zta is a flattop
Orbtronic and keeppower have button top and are protected . The internal cell is a Sanyo 16650zta
But protection circuit limits charge on most chargers to 4.20v, which is ok and extends battery life but reduces capacity to around 1900mah @ 4.20v vs 2400mah @ 4.35v

Here are specs for mkiii battery extension I made.
Next one I would make 5mm shorter

The reap is using 2 17500 batts with the battery kit,
it might not run on a single cell due to lower voltage. But will need an extension to fit 2.
The IR Patrol works fine with a single 16650 battery.
