Rifle Scopes BC front cap won't fit, front of scope is too close to barrel....

I just received and mounted my new SWFA SS 5-20 HD yesterday. I ordered the Butler Creek front/rear caps for it. The front cap won't fit because the front of the scope is too close to the barrel. The scope is 0.104" from the barrel.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the SOP in this situation? Shave/sand down the cap on the bottom side?

Dremel, sandpaper, etc etc.

Yep. Some of the bc are super thick and you can take a lot of material off them without any issues.

I'd see if the objective threads match a 50mm Leupold Alumina cap. It fits inside, so doesn't add to the diameter.

I have the same with a vortex viper, so will watch how this is resolved.

I used a Dremel barrel sander, then 150 and 400 grit sandpaper. There's room for 3 playing cards between the barrel and the cap.
