Ive killed thousands of pounds of meat with cheap Walmart .308 ammo. Usually rem corelokt or winchester/federal 150 grn sft points. I never once remember anything running away or taking too long to die because the ammo was not up to snuff.
I have a recovered bullet from this year, 150 grn Winchester power point, box has $9.50 price tag on it so it must be a few years old. ANimal was shot just at 400 and the bullet went through both shoulders and stopped just inside the skin. The buck died instantly and I never got the chance to tell him he was killed with sub-premium ammo from a $300 rifle.
