Just bought a new leupold Mark 4. I am wondering what the best scope rings verse cost I should get. I was thinking about the Larue QD mounts but 280.00 is a little steep. I have a rem 700p .308, with a badger ordinance rail. Thanks for your help!

Asking for the best scope rings is but Laure is too steep? What you really want is a scope ring that works at X price is it not?
Anyway, Larue mounts are far from the "best".
I agree with the above get some Badger mounts. Hard pressed to say the are better the many others but they will do the job of holding your scope done very well.

Can't go wrong with any of the top dogs: Badger, Seekins, Near, APA, Spuhr, Nightforce, etc. Sure there's probably a couple I left out. Write um on separate 3x5 cards, mix um up on your kitchen table, close your eyes and point. Buy that one.
I buy a lot of Badger stuff simply because I can drive to their shop - great guys.

Took me a while to come around to aluminum alloy rings...
...but Seekins really are all that...
Many steel rings are made of 12L14 alloy, which isn't as strong as the 7075 Seekins are made of.
I'm done with the super heavy MTU barrels, steel rings, steel bottom metals etc etc. The rifles were just too damn heavy.
Took me a while to come around to aluminum alloy rings...
...but Seekins really are all that...

Have Badger & Nightforce, both work great. Correct tools and install may give more bang for your buck than deciding between which top tier manufacturer.

You might find as good as badger but not better. I have badger on all my guns but on which has Larue. I like badger for most applications and been shooting them since he started making rings.

My next set of rings are going to be the new APA's. I hate the fucking 1/2" nuts hanging of my NF's. Seekins are awesome as well.

I've run NF and Leupold Mk4 rings and have nothing to complain about on both sets. I picked up my Mk4 rings for a whopping $60 new on the clearance rack at one of my local shops so I guess I lucked out there. Just make sure you get the right ring height so that you get a good cheek weld. If you do that you can't go wrong with any of the high end companies.

I've used them all: NF, Badger, Leupold, TPS, Weaver and all are fine. Seekins is the best. They are true in all dimensions always and they have a lot more surface area on the rail. For large scopes, I prefer the seekins fat ring in front and normal ring in the back (4/6 Cap screw combo)

I was turned on to TPS, with their caps marked as to how they fit. I have never had any ring marks left behind.

I use Badger and NF on my stuff. All these other suggestions are fine, I've just not used them. Any way you look at it , use superior rings and mounts.

They may not be cutting edge tacticool but they are excellently crafted and solid as a rock. The service couldn't be better either. Titanium flavors are also available for those so inclined.
That being said, I am sure Seekins or Badger would be just as good. My advice would be to pick the material and features you want and buy from the reputable manufacturer that offers it.

just wondering if anyone would adjust the choices based on caliber - ie, .223 bolt action vs. .308 vs. .338 vs. .50 ? Have folks had issues running the alloy rings on the larger calibers, or are the GTG there as well?

Nightforce rings and don't look back, They never loose tension even after 600 ruonds of 7Mag, I put my torque wrench on them and it just goes click.

Our T&E program is actually open to people just like yourself. That's why we announced it here. We feel the Snipers Hide members are more knowledgable than most, and that they represent an ideal community for semi-professional reviews of products.
The only difference between professional reviewers and regular members is that regular Snipers Hide members pay Map [edited to remove pricing information], and after providing the forum review post link with pictures and youtube review link they get a reimbursement for 75% of the original purchase price. This is a new strategy for us, where in the past we gave products away to people who ~80% of the time failed to uphold their end of the bargain, now if that same situation occurs we just sold a product rather had one stolen from us. That is not personal, it is simply a business strategy designed to limit unpredictable fraud and theft that result from trusting random people with no deposit. The reason arrangements with professional reviewers are different, is because they are professionals with a reputation they have created from a track record of honesty, and I will take them at their word and send the product with no strings attached. Additionally people like Nutnfacy get 30,000 video views in a week. 8541 tactical in my humble opinion gets more technical- I really like his work, and he gets about 7000 views in a relatively short time. As compared to accounts like our Griffin Armament account where we might get 600 views in a week. Reviewers like Nutnfancy and 8541 Tactical are industry professionals because they have a certain talent with regard to reviews that others do not.
I don't really understand the hostility in your message. I didn't create the class of tactical rings. As you mention yourself, the rings already in that class have a lot of similarity. We merely built a ring using what we felt were the best combination and execution of features available in products already in that class.
The full radius geometry isn't just "rounding the top over", that represents two additional machining settups as compared to other brands with no radiuses at all. Settups cost time and time is money. That geometry represents our company working harder to deliver the customer more value.

If you can find a one piece ring setup like SPHUR or EuroOptic offers that fits your scope span lengths you really should consider it for the following reasons:
1. One piece ring sets have the rings bored in <span style="font-style: italic">perfect</span> alignment with each other so there will be <span style="font-weight: bold">NO </span>twisting torque on your scope tube. (keeps all internal parts in alignment and unstressed)
2. Two piece ring sets require that you get a ring lapping kit and lap them once they are set on your base rail. Are you willing to spend the extra time and money? Do you want to do it every time you move the scope to another rifle?

I've used Badger, NF, Seekins, IOR, ADM, Leupold Mark IV and later today I'm going to mount up my S&B in a Spuhr mount. If I had to pick I would suggest the following brands for the following applications:
QD mount - ADM
Standard Rings - Seekins
One-Piece - Spuhr (most likely)
ADM makes an excellent QD mount. I have removed/replaced the mount a number of times on my AR15 and as long as I remember to put it back where it was, there was minimal shift. Some people don't like the vertical clasp design but I have had no issues with it when they're properly torqued.
Seekins will always have a soft spot in my heart due to their quality and customer service. I f*(&#ed up a pair when I mis-read the torque settings and snapped off a screw head. They took care of me no questions asked. Add on top of that the fact their rings are excellent quality and they have a life-long customer. If they made a one-piece canted mount, I definitely would've chosen them over Spuhr.
My Spuhr suggestion is based solely off of reviews as I have not fondled the mount.... yet. I have not read anything negative on their products (other than price), they have a rep here on SH (big plus to me), and the inclusion of a level is one less thing I'll have hanging off my rail.
All in all, you're going to have to decide what you can/want to afford. I put premiums on quality and customer service and am willing to pay for both. For your application and based on my bias, I would suggest Seekins. Excellent product, value, and company. While all of the above will most likely do the job you're looking for, Seekins gets my vote.
I've used Badger, NF, Seekins, IOR, ADM, Leupold Mark IV and later today I'm going to mount up my S&B in a Spuhr mount. If I had to pick I would suggest the following brands for the following applications:
QD mount - ADM
Standard Rings - Seekins
One-Piece - Spuhr (most likely)
ADM makes an excellent QD mount. I have removed/replaced the mount a number of times on my AR15 and as long as I remember to put it back where it was, there was minimal shift. Some people don't like the vertical clasp design but I have had no issues with it when they're properly torqued.
Seekins will always have a soft spot in my heart due to their quality and customer service. I f*(&#ed up a pair when I mis-read the torque settings and snapped off a screw head. They took care of me no questions asked. Add on top of that the fact their rings are excellent quality and they have a life-long customer. If they made a one-piece canted mount, I definitely would've chosen them over Spuhr.

I had a rifle that was issued to me for about 8 years that had Badger rings and bases. In addition to mine, I was also responsible for keeping an eye on 5 other rifles with Badger rings and bases. In addition, I have had Badgers on personal rifles for 9-10 years. While they dont see the same amount of use and weather, I would not consider any of them as Safe Queens.
We/I never had issue with rust. Not saying your buddy doesn't, just that it does not match my experience with 8-10 guns over a 8+ year period. You may suggest that your buddy review his basic maintenance TTP's.

Badger or Seekins is what I would say. If it were me I would go with the Badgers because you already have the rail but that's just me.
No rust issues here on my Badgers. Miltec is your friend it's not oil it's a metal conditioner it actualy soaks into the metal that said I haven't put Miltec on my rings or base they are steel and they just have their degreased factory coating.

I like the ARC (American Rifle Company) rings best. I have Gen II and Gen III's and prefer the Gen III since the scope doesn't have a tendency to roll when the ring is tightened. I understand they have another version now with only one ring screw and one base screw per ring, but I haven't used those.
As advertised, they leave no marks whatsoever and they perform admirably.
If I didn't buy ARC, I'd buy the Seekins as they were recommended by a friend who's FAR more knowledgeable on the subject than me, and I trust his judgement.
