The GOA and FPC will likely be the source of funding/lawyers for any challenges you see. The manufacturers and possibly individuals will be plaintiffs, obviously, but in terms of financing the litigation -- I don't think the 80% industry is large enough to have the margins where it'd make sense to pay to litigate through SCOTUS. Generally the bankroll for those cases is in the millions.
Think of it this way, there is no litigant on the planet with more resources to fight against than the federal government and there is no court with a higher cost to go before than SCOTUS. And to fight an EO you'll have to do both.
Make no mistake, they aren't incompetent. On the contrary, actually. It's just that they are working towards different goals than you or I have for the prosperity of this country.
They don't want it to prosper. They just want it to be under Democrat party/socialist/communist rule. That's their only goal. They have to burn the constitution? They don't care. Kill a few hundred of out own citizens? They don't care. Overrun our southern border, take our guns, kill our elderly, indoctrinate our children? They don't care.
All they want is to be in control. Control is power, power is money, money is control. It's really that simple.
I believe that we may have wandered into the lands of tinfoil hattery, but even assuming that a perfect assassination or two of a Supreme Court justice can be arranged Biden would still be on very shakey grounds using an EO to go after guns.
Courts hate EO's because they are very dangerous to liberty and democracy. Even liberal anti-gun justices are going to be very unlikely to support an EO that would do something contrary to the 2nd amendment (say confiscation of all Assault Weapons). I believe that a newly liberal Supreme Court would dismiss any EO that ran counter to the 2nd Amendment on procedural grounds but avoid expanding the 2nd Amendment. I would expect the current Supreme Court to dismiss an EO and possibly take the chance to expand the 2nd Amendment. If we got really lucky they would rule that any restriction on the 2nd Amendment must satisfy a strict scrutiny test.
I don't have any desire to argue against any point you made here, but I do want to say one thing about the tinfoil hat thing.

There's not enough tin foil to make hats for the entire Bear Pit. I think your analysis is probably right, though I don't know that given the ability a liberal Supreme Court would have the prudence to do as you suggest. I think you also might see one of those nationwide injunctions on this stuff from a conservative judge somewhere, just like you had with most of Trump's EOs. And you will see liberals hate nationwide injunctions, and conservatives start to like them...

The one thing they keep overlooking is that they have to be running the lowest real approval rating for an administration since probably before Carter. Whatever capital they have, they're running through it fast. Between obviously stealing an election, singling out anyone they don't agree with as domestic terrorists, fucking everyone on the oil pipeline, gas prices, tax increases, sending money everywhere but here and now the gun thing....they're going to be on E in the not so distant future.
This also isn't 2004. When you compare whats being said/overall mentality now versus the panic going on when obama won, it has taken a gigantic shift. Which I think is a sign of how afraid Democrats are of gun control right now, they want to pander but not lose the House and Senate in 2022. So they'll try to talk out of both sides of their mouths here, but I think the gun control advocacy groups are going to call them on it and the pro gun side is going to sound every alarm they can.
I'm not sure the ATF can produce what Biden wants without SCOTUS clearing up some disparities between federal circuits.

I think that also something that is not taken into account is that more and more people are noticing, due to social media, that not only is the Federal government is largely incompetent, but they really lack the ability to enforce most of the edicts that pass. This ranges from EO's to Court decisions and legislation.
For example,
A couple hundred upper middle class adult children spent almost three months attempting to burn down a federal court house with people in it. its still an on going issue.
Same thing with States saying hey feds, weeds no longer illegal.
