Early 70's while most of you were in some ballsack , rubber hoses and cans is how we got gas during the shortage I would imagine today it would still work.

One of the best kept secrets was our school busses that were fueled up every evening. All you had to do was be able to scale a high chain link fence with a five gal. gas can. Word got around and some lazy fatbody had to ruin it by using bolt cutters to cut a hole in the fence but he paid for it as the popo were by that time onto it and sat in hiding and witnessed the whole thing. He got dogpiled, hit in the back of the head with a Maglite and gravel imbedded in his face. He was charged with theft and destruction of government property.
I am just sitting on cash waiting for the fire sale that is coming. I would add SXS and ATVs to that list too. Tons of people financed them with the Biden bucks. Those people that could never afford them are not ganna be able to make payments and pay for gas to drive to work let alone gas to burn driving around the mountains. I am sure boats will follow as well but I don't really want a boat.

You aren’t getting the overall picture. We are stopping Russia oil imports and attempting to cover that with Venezuela and Iran. The implications and irony of that are obvious. We are (were) still negotiating with Iran about nukes. That got fucked up, guaranteed.

Exactly why nobody has done anything or will do anything. People won't do anything unless they have nothing to lose, which at that point, it's way too late.

Your analysis of 50K I think is a bit low. I'd say if one is < $75K and is married with kid, they're completely fucked. Yet, lower income folks as a whole (let's say < 30K a year) are the ones that mainly voted for this shit. Sad state we're in. Very sad... I think it will hit restaurants first. For a lot of the middle class that is an easy place to start the cost cutting. Outside entertainment would also be up there.
Cut out eating out, internet subscriptions, alter the thermostat, go less places.
Looks like the word ‘staycation’ will be back in vogue.
ALL discretionary spending will be impacted further from where inflation has already taken it. Now, think about how many people are employed in businesses that deal with discretionary income. Hint: everyone except defense contractors. Slower purchases will hit everyone and affect all industries. There will be (almost) no citizens unaffected.

After the next harvest, all bets are off IMHO.

Oil pops back to $110/barrel and is sold again before the ships arrive.
U turn, heading back out to sea. Oil drops a few dollars/barrel and guess what?
Short term pop today to $129/barrel.
Which way are the ships moving through Texas ports now?
