Breach my ass, I'll bet Gavin the Dickless is behind it.

don't be so fast to let the California AG that actually did release the names and addresses off so easily frying both of them would be the best outcome , but your not going to see anything happen to either of them ever democratic politicians never go to jail or get pressed for any action they do ever shame .

Conveniently enough, the California Consumer Privacy Act which can impose a fine of up to $2500 per name leaked does not apply to governmental agencies or non-profits. Better yet, this incident was caused by the CA Attorney General's Office, yet it's that agency's job to investigate and punish others who leak this kind of information.

And they wonder why people don't trust the government...

The saddest part of this - aside from everything that happened here - is that I heard about this first on Sniper's Hide. I have a feeling that further details from the media will not be forthcoming.
Under state law an agency that suffers a data breach has a duty to notify the effected individuals. We shall see if the AG's Office actually notifies people or investigates themselves and finds that indeed, they are innocent of all wrongdoing...

I just got an email from my sheriff’s office. He had to call them, they just sent him a little blurb and posted it on the AG website. Compete bullshit.

If they didn't outright release it in response to the recent SCOTUS ruling, I guarantee they deliberately hosted it on a server with little to no protections. They want people to know their info will get released so they don't apply in the first place.

Use your brain. Wont happen. It wasn't a data breach by some hacker....

It was a purposeful publication by the custodian of the information.

So, no, nobody will be officially notified of their data being put out there. And the Gov will not punish itself.

My tinfoil hat isn't tight enough to convince me that this is an intentional release. My vote is for the kind of total incompetence only government bureaucrats are capable of.

In the wake of the New York 2A case AND the same CA AG publishing guidance about CCW issuance a couple days ago??

Its not tin foil hat wearing to open your eyes and connect dots. I don't believe in coincidences/mistakes/incompetence (CMI) anymore because, magically, all the CMI always trend to a similar general result.....

Pro tip: if you're not 100% certain of the true reason behind the action you can look at the results of that action, and infer the reason by deductive reasoning and critical thinking.
