I've been looking at building a tube gun with a custom action.

Some custom actions have a side bolt release.
For example the Surgeon Rifles RSR Action.

Would you machine a hole into the Receiver of the Tube so you could work the button through the tube? I would think you would have to machine a rollpin hole also.
You would have to slide the action in then assemble the side bolt release after the action is installed.

What are some options for something like this?
Is it even practical to put a custom action in a tube gun or should i stick with My regular Rem 700 action?
Here is a pic of the Surgeon RSR off Surgeon's website.

You can remove the bolt stop in the action, as the bolt is stopped within the stock. You can even insert a delron rod for this purpose in the stock tube.
If the action fits you can use it.

You're going to have to remove the side bolt release and leave it off. No way to make this work witout some major changes.
