Re: Bushnell 3-21 with Horus Reticle Scope at Shot Sho
My friend received his today, so we did a little comparison between Nightforce, Leupold, and a Premier. The first thing you notice is this aint your granddaddy's Bushnell. This scope looks tough and it looks like it has been juicing it up at the gym. The turrets are nearly as wide as the premier's and about a 1/4 taller when in the down position. It weighs about the same as the Nightforce 5.5-22x50, but a lot shorter in length. In fact this scope was the shortest of the bunch being about 2 inches shorter than the Premier. No formal test was done for the quality of the glass, however it seemed a bit better than the Leupold and about the same as the Nightforce, this was all done at 15 power. The bushy also had a great eyebox and seemed more forgiving than the rest, but again this wasn't a formal test. The scope design allows you a ton of space for mounting which makes it easier getting it mounted to that perfect spot.
The horus h-58 is a lot nicer than expected and extremely sharp and detailed reticle. At full power it goes to about 8 mil line and doesn't seem as busy as the pictures look. The middle section where the lines meet are about half as thick as the rest, which I am not sure the diagram points out or not.
The turrets are huge! And get even larger once you unlock them. When locked they have absolutely no play in them at all, however they only need to be moved a tiny bit up and it is unlocked. I would of preferred a lower profile turret. They are 5 mil rotations, with the feel of a lupy M1 turret but with more space in between .1 mils. They are not Audible, but again have a feel of the M1 turret(or any tactical Bushy). The parallax knob goes from 25meter-700meters being the last marking before Infinity.
Next week we are all going to go out to the range and do some formal testing but so far this scope has been a pleasant surprise and I do not think there is a scope that can match the specs for the money. The glass, construction, and Horus H-58 are the best parts of this scope. The stuff that could be worked on would be the turrets, and lack of an internal sunshade.
