Im going to try to keep this simplied.
Rifle: Remington 700
Caliber: 300 WIN MAG (220gr)
Barrel length: 26 inches
Speed: 2700 fps
Scope cant: 40 MOA
Scope height: 2.6 in (to mate with night vision)
Scope elevation adj: 32 mil (108 moa)

Goal:
Get a rough estimate as to what the approximate minimal distance a shooter should be able to zero based on this information.

Is there an equation:geek: that could get me close to goal?

See if this helps...

Assuming your scopes mechanical zero is right at the center (108 MOA / 2 = 54 MOA).

Then take into account your 40 MOA base and subtract that from the centered adjustment value (54 MOA - 40 MOA = 14 MOA).

You are therefore left with a theoretical maximum of 14 MOA of adjustment to use to establish your XXX yard/meter zero.

In practical terms you will be close to the limits of adjustment if you are trying to establish a 100 yard/meter zero. However it all will depend how close the various alignment tolerances on your scope and barrel are.
