Calypso has integrated into the AB Ecosystem with a miniature Ultrasonic Wind Meter. This is a rechargeable compact (1 7/8th" tall by 1 3/4" wide) device which can be integrated to work along side other AB devices. Once paired with those devices it will feed the data automatically into them as you use them. No need for a phone or 3rd party app once paired.

The Calypso AB Mini features an internal battery with a 6 day battery life, and wireless recharging.

Only the Calypso AB Mini model is compatible with the AB Ecosystem.

For the Sig 10K Gen 2, I was able to connect and pair it with the 10KG2 on my phone, but I’m not sure what else needs to be done on the LRF or the app to get it fully functioning. Any tips?
Did you update it with the Calypso Management App

Does the device do the math on the crosswind for a 90deg value?
The Calypso AB gets pointed north and the range finders have DOF sensors so it can auto-calc the crosswind values.

Ok a couple of tips for the connection of the Mini AB to the Vector X. You need both Calypso Insruments apps. Once I installed the apps I restarted my phone.
App 1 Anemotracker Configure & Update
App 2 Anemotracker
The Configure app allows you to update the device firmware. This should be done with the Mini AB on the charging pad.

Once you update the firmware. You then go to the Anemotracker app to connect the Mini AB. Once you have connected the Mini AB you then can search for Rangefinder. I think you need to “bump” your rangefinder to make sure it is awake. Also make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the range finder. This should allow the Anemotracker app to see the Vector X.

For me at this point everything shows it is connected. I do not think it will work since people have said there needs to be an update. At least it shows it is connected.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I have the latest firmware either. I couldn't find any firmware update documentation on the website.

Firmware is updated with their configuration app.

I would recommend reaching out to Calypso if you are having issues with their app and pairing, as they manage that in house.

Range Finders need to be in AB Elite Mode.

The brief instructions on the package say to place the arrow of the Mini AB into the direction of the wind. You mentioned above that the arrow should face North?

I have the Sig k3k LRF. Will this device make it so I can range and get data past the AB lite capability?

Could be, id have to check my notes. Why do all that figuring though? Why not just throw stated value into Kestrel?

Because I’d rather this unit feed wind directly to a thermal clip on (like a Voodoo M) and allow for a disturbed trickle that takes both distance and wind into the equation!

So right now safe to say it syncs up easier/less steps with the Sig 10k Gen2 than a Vector X? Has anyone paired with Vector X and put it to use successfully?

To comment on the unit needing to be pointed North vs at target. What's the point of facing it at target, useless to me then. If it doesn't have a compass, then orient it north with your own compass, as I would want my LRF bringing in wind azimuth and mating that to DOF (azimuth) for multiple targets at different angles. Then I get proper wind solutions for each target--that's the end game everyone wants.

It doesn't currently work with the Vector X. You would need to contact Calypso & Vectronix for that discussion.

Their are some updates coming out I am aware of with the Sigs and Garmins to help smooth things over with the Calypso as well.

The calypso does not have a built in compass.

I feel like it’s kind of an oversight to not have an integrated compass with the calypso. On the product description it also specs to point it at the target which is backwards to me. I’d rather at least orient it north and have it feed a true wind azimuth. Lazing multiple targets with different DOFs would be easy then.

Ideally if it had its own calibrated compass then I just set it down and go and wouldn’t even need to orient it north. Seems simple but maybe it’s not??

I would recommend providing feedback you have to Calypso so they can track user suggestions for possible future devices.

Have run into yet another disappointment with my Calypso AB.

It will not talk with the EagleBallistics app, for constant adjusted wind charts whereas the non-AB will.

Had I known it was this much of an Alpha level product, I would have absolutely not purchased it at this point.

So far, the only two things it does is talk to my iphone… and go flat…

The latest software finally shows the battery level, which is nice. Before that it had a ‘?’ only.

• The iPhone app is OK, at least it shows you speeds and direction, but then the phone is tied in to that device only, you have to have the screen unlocked and paired to be useful.

• Bought a Garmin watch in September, the app installs and opens, however it will not receive any data from the AB yet. Waiting for more updates. I’m hoping this will be a usable feature soon.

• Sig Kilo 10k, can be found in the app but no idea what it’s supposed to do as nothing happens.

Not impressed so far.

I've the very same impression.

AB version of the Calypso feel a bit like a scam.

Can't get my Terrapin X detected and therefore connected to the app. Has anyone managed?

The normal version connect fine to strelok, but not the AB....

Generally speaking the lack of compass in both version is ridiculous....

Hopefully they will correct this.

Kind of a scam, or at least not knowing their audience. Shooters that want this product already know how it should work and what it should deliver. The fact that the consumer understands what's needed for next level integration and solutions and they totally missed says something. Maybe some shooters will make a better product. Garmin? Additionally, why is AB not holding their hand and giving them advice if they are going to put their name on it? Lack of compass, weird. Rant over.

Maybe for pre planned stages a true north would be nice, but for “real world” I do actually like setting the bearing towards the target.

If I’m on a coyote stand facing N and have a straight E wind, I’d like that wind to be accounted for if I see a yote coming in from the SW and the circles straight west.

In a way, no compass really simplifies things because the assumption is the device direction is where the bullet is headed and the wind value is factored in off that.

Seems like the best approach for a variable target distance and bearing scenario especially if the shooter is receiving updated range / ballistic data before each shot

Just here for a bit of vent/rant and let others know how half-baked this Calypso Mini AB is. Both iOS apps are buggy, unreliable to connect and firmware checks/updates are hit-and-miss. Makes no sense there are two apps anyway, which both look like they were a school coding project. Anyone else having issues with firmware updates and connectivity issues?

I’m under the impression, that the AB unit works well with the Hornady app. I ordered one just a week ago talked with some other users. They said it was a great help finding a consistent wind average. Seeing the high and lows. How long they lasted or how short. Great way to see you wind brackets. I keep reading people fussing about not having a compass on it. Evidently you guys haven’t fought with the Famous Kestrel and its compass issues.
I’m so sick of fighting the kestrel it’s an over priced product that is very out dated. With the mini calypso and it working with the hornady app. I’m looking forward to not needing the kestrel at all. The H app will get all its weather data and wind direction from the mini. Working the wind and target like a clock is the easiest way. Spinning your finger around on the screen or sliding it across is so much faster and easier. Than clicking back and forth between screens to set and see the dope. A compass on the mini would be just one more thing to fight with. I’d only recommend one if it could be toggled on and off. I also seen a post tonight that 4DOF is going to do some updates to the solver. Looks like they maybe be getting the edge on the Kestrel.
