I narrow down to these:

- Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 Target EFR

- Weaver 1-3x20 Classic V

- Weaver 3-9x38 Classic V

- Weaver 2-10x38 Classic V

No plan to mount bi-pod and no hunting or competition.

One main advantage for Nikon is, it has parallax adjustment from 10m.

IMHO If those are your only choice-I'd go with the 'Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 Target EFR' because it has adjustable parallax or AO for closeup targets and plain old plinking.

If you want to consider entry level tactical mil-mil FFP scopes I'll suggest the Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP http://swfa.com/Falcon-Menace-4-14x44-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P47408.aspx or the Bushnell 3-12x44 FFP Elite tactical scope http://swfa.com/Bushnell-3-12x44-Elite-Tactical-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P48268.aspx . I have owned both and am currently using the Bushnell Elite Tactical on my Tacticool CZ452 Varmint. If you're looking in the 3-9x range the Leupold 6.5-20x is way beyond what you want. BTW IMHO Bushnell has the better warranty on the Elite Tactical, they'll buy it back within the first year of purchase 'No questions Ask' as to Leupold's replace or repair only! If you don't like it 'You're stuck with it'!

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

If it is in its factory form as a nice sporter weight rifle the 3-9x33 efr Leupold is hard to beat for a classy rimfire. Excellent glass and will focus in close.

I have one on a 452.

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

Leupold EFR.
And to the guy that has a problem with Leupold's warranty....WTF?
They will repair it or replace it. So now a warranty sucks if they won't give your money back? What in the hell is this world coming to.

I currently have in my possesion 5 of the 7 Leupolds I have obtained in 30 years. I have a 8th in the mail on its way to me. I cannot attest yet to the 8th, but the 7 that I have owned have never needed to be sent back. I did send one back last year. It was the VXIII 3.5-10 that I was given for my 13th birthday, that scope will be 31 this year. I sent it back on its 30th year for a set of target turrets and a fresh bit of gas. The cleaning and new gas were no charge. It has been beat and banged through the woods and out of at least 4 different trucks and a couple cars. Rested and served atop no less than 5 different rifles from 243 to 300winmag, it never complained or let me down.
Yeah I don't really care for anyone badmouthing Leupold, when they reccomend cheap china made scopes.

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

I could care less what you think about Leupolds or how many you own-WTF to you!

Yeah I don't really care for anyone badmouthing china scopes, when they recommend 'cheap' Leupold made scopes.

Maybe you should abide by the forum Rules, my opinions are just as good as yours.

That Leupold would be a good choice and also I'd recommend looking at The Clearidge 3-9x32mm AO, with your choice of Mil-dot or Duplex reticles. Just like my Bushnell Elite, it is made in Japan, not china, should that be a deal breaker.

Perhaps you could clue us in on your price limit, to help make reasonable suggestions?

LOL...don't take it so personally.

I agree with Armor...Leupy will do you right via customer service, at least in my experience. My first 3-9 EFR (circa 2004?) locked up on the mag ring...sent it in and I had a fully functioning scope within the week. Good folks.

Drifter nailed it. 3-9x EFR is where it's at. I buy mine from the custom shop, have them install M-1 turrets so that you can play at "range". If you don't want to adjust for multiple ranges of targets...skip the turrets and just get the scope.

I don't know if your opinion is any better than mine or not. That assumes you have actually owned a few Leupold scopes above VXII status.
I was not talking about the Bushnell. I was talking about the Falcon Menace. You may have been lead to believe they are made in the United KIngdom, in truth and in fact they are assembled in China and many of the parts come from China. The lenses are indeed from Japan however.
Leupold employs over 700 American workers and make a great product with a great warranty. They are also constantly trying to improve and bring to market what people want.
Buy what you like but don't complain when there is not one American manufacturing company left in the near future.

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

I knew the Falcon menace was made in china and I also knew that Falcon had a money back warranty before I bought mine, which they honored. So falcon has a better warranty than Leupold, also!

Ive never owned or bought a leupold, and never ever will! They're way over priced for what you get and nothing about them impress me either.

BTW did you know that leupold's are assembled in America using foreign made parts.

Copied from Leupold Optics homepage : http://www.leupold.com/corporate/about-us/americas-optics-authority/

Leupold uses foreign sourced components for some parts of Golden Ring products, primarily lenses. This is because at this time, there is no American manufacturer that can supply the quantity of high quality lenses that Leupold needs for its annual Golden Ring Optics production. Leupold’s lens systems are designed at Leupold, by American optical engineers, in its state-of -the-art optics lab and then procured from outside vendors who must meet stringent quality standards.

So your High and Mighty Leupold is not quite american as Apple pie now is it?

I've no plans to buy a high quality scope, but if I did it would be Nightforce/Schmidt-Bender or USO,SWFA of which all do impress me.

I bought a Redfield revenge 6-18x44 and it works great on my 10/22. For $250 you can't lose.

Just my two pennies....

You haven't told me anything I didn't already know. Yes Leupold is the largest buyer of high quality lens in the WORLD. Yes Leupold has to buy glass overseas. Every other scope maker has foreign made glass....and your point is what? Feel free to plead the fifth due to what you wrote.....
In red:
Thank you for blatantly skinning your ignorance with this statement. You have made my point so eloquently about people who bash Leupold. If I were a prosecutor I would have to say at this time...."no further questions."

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

Thank you for blatantly shinning your ignorance with your statement. You have made my point more eloquently then I ever imagined.

You absolutely fail to understand, in your ignorance of course, that I didn't say I never used a Leupold, I said that I never owned or bought one, and never ever will due to the fact I'm not impressed by your ignorance at all!

My closing statement, One should not go off on a leupold rant without all the facts less his ignorance becomes a known fact! Stick a fork in me cause I'm done.

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

Buddy your posts are so full of fail I can't begin to reply.

When you bought your Falcon they honored their money back guarantee...FAIL.

The Leupold link? Simply reinforces what I have already said. So its 600 American workers, its one hell of a lot.

You better read a bit better next time. I did not assert that their scopes were 100% American made...ever. You may also want to work on your writing skills.

THere are shitloads of folks out there that take supreme pleasure in making snide jabs at Leupold products because it has been the height of fashion for a few years. For the most part they are just like you, learned it on the internet.

I am sure you are done. You have failed in every single way to make a point and back it up with any experience besides what you could Google. I have to assume that is how you get most of your experience. Now go back to your game console and leave the discussions to people who know shit from Shinola scooter.

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

I only typed the truth, man up, you're so full of shit, I'll bet you can't get the taste of crap out your mouth so you spread it where ever you go. You assume a lot about someone you don't know anything about.

Best laugh I've had all day, you should be writing comedy, cant wait get another laugh! Rant on, and on, and on.

The only failure here is you, you fail to understand anything you read.

BTW should you like to get some cyber training time and it sure sounds like you need some, learn how to use this web page! I use the mil-mil FFP with meter range card, it's a good simulation for my 3-12x44 .1mil FFP scope, on rainy days only when I can't get behind the trigger of one of my 'real guns'.

Just shooting paper or steel target. Don't plan to shoot over 100yd, most likely 50yd or less.

I think Nikon prostaff target EFR 3-9x40 is good choice.

or

If I can find Weaver Rimfire 3-9X32 mm A/O Matte Black Dual-X RV-9 for under $200, I will go with this.

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

If it were me I would want to try to keep the lines of the rifle more in keeping with its Euro styling.

My vote would be for the Weaver 2.5-7 or a fixed straight bodied tube. Just personal preferance but I think having a flared objective somehow makes this rifle look less appealing. The styling of the lux (to me at least) is like a mini safari rifle and those traditionaly are seen with low powered straight bodied optics.

Like I said to me its a style factor otherwise get a set of Brno match sights and skip the glass

Yes the lux does have classic European style lines, that I like also. Can you post some links or models of dangerous game style scopes that don't break the bank?

Re: Can't decide what scope to purchase for CZ 455 lux

Skang, Keep in mind paralax issuses with non rimfire scopes. The weaver rimfire might be your best choice if the other scopes won't adj. to your yardage. That said I'm using a leupold M8-6 on my 453 just to retrain myself in basic marksmanship.(always mount the gun the same keep eye/cheekweld)

IMHO either of those will be a good choice. Good luck and enjoy.

This is the best price I could find for the Weaver http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=WE849398
