this stuff was interesting and rare, so i thought i'd share... we just finished a couple of MG42 german machine guns. there was rewelding, grinding, finishing, blasting, coating, curing, and function testing involved of course... we had a large crew working on this pair of 'hitler's buzzsaws' and there is over 40 hours of work in them... these aren't easy restorations but are very rewarding...

Hotness. I qaulled on an MG3 in Germany. ROF wasa bit high, but it was alot of fun to shoot and impressively accurate.

I have a semi MG42... they are neat.

Are you starting with DEWAT's? Or doing these as post-samples? Or restoring pre-reg MG's.

You aren't kidding about them being tough restorations, especially to get them to run right. Gorgeous and fun to watch one run!

customer bought these torched as kits. a guy from the northern iowa welded them back together. they never ran. then they sent them to an 'expert' on the east coast. they run, but half ass.

we ground down crappy welds full of holes pocks, rewelded, smoothed, etc. then blasted, checked, reground, blasted, cerakoted, polished, and assembled them.

one runs fine. the other needs to be fully polished between the bolt and the rails. it appears like the last guy's fixture was a tad off, so there is the slightest bind in it... you wouldn't think something so minor would be an issue, but it is little different than the guys that roll in here with a 9mm 2011 bitching about it not working. that tiny bit of tuning makes all the difference in reliable function.

i'm not MG42 guru like some are, but we do enjoy the NFA refurbishes and builds when we do them. they aren't a huge profit center, but they are rewarding... besides, i like working with the guys in the shop doing things few can or will do, especially with a piece of history...

Sharac -> nickname for a Yugo M53 (copy of mg42)...

What would the cost be in US for a M53 or MG42, here they cost ~700€ for M53 and well above 1500€ for MG42...
Unfortunately due to the law they are collectors items only, need special permission from the police to fire (never given in real life).

Y'all do great work! I've done one and it was tedious but very rewarding once finished. I test fired it out my back door, buzz saw is right!

it was late in the day when we finished them, so i didn't want to wake up all the talent to put on a bikini and come on out... next time...
