Has anyone got any experience with the Chiappa 1911? I'm looking for a nice plinker semi-auto pistol now and this seems like a decent gun. I've looked at the Sig Misquito and the P22 but they both have issues with jamming I guess. I like the ISSC M22 and the S&W 22 as well but they are both single action only. So the Chiappa is looking good. Anyone have one or shot one? Quality? Thanks for the help.

So safe to say that it would be worth purchasing as a plinker. Have you done anything with it? I've seen one or two with black grips and such but not sure where people are buying parts for it. Maybe just painted grips.

nothing more than shot is a couple thousand times already. Its not a Kimber or anything like that, trust me, but if you like the feel of it, looks, etc, the functioning, at least with mine, is better than I thought I would get out of a $200+ pistol.

Re: Chiappa 1911 22lr

Oh yeah I forgot about that GSG/ATI 1911! Are they hard to find? When I looked up the Chiappa it seemed like more people went that way since the GSG was hard to find. I only saw it online at midwest hunters outlet. Never purchased a gun online. It does look better than the Chiappa.

:edit: Found a few on gunbroker but not sure how that site really works.

Re: Chiappa 1911 22lr

One reason I am eyeing the GSG 1911's is that the barrel comes pre-threaded.

The only caveat is that the threads are metric. But there are adapters for sale at a multitude of places, for around 35 bucks.

Short of a threaded ceiner kit on a 1911, it doesnt get much better.

Re: Chiappa 1911 22lr

Yeah I noticed the threaded barrel. Didn't realize it was metric but oh well. Won't be getting a can for a little while anyway. Looked at the ATI site again and found a few dealers near me. Going to go over and check what they have this week. Hopefully they can get me something soon.

Re: Chiappa 1911 22lr

Hope I can get one of these. I was searching around on the 1911 forum and found this.

Hope the owner won't mind but its just what I want for a plinker. Anyone know the grips he has on there?

Awesome. Thanks for being so helpful. Can't wait to buy this thing.

Re: Chiappa 1911 22lr

I went to impact guns main store in odgen today, during my lunch hour.

I was wrapping up my Form 4 paperwork for my silencers when i noticed they had one in the case.

I felt it, and i liked the heft it had. It felt real, the controls all worked, and the sights where nice. The mag feel solid (like i could actually drop it on the concrete floor and not worry about breaking something, and the slide racked effortlessly. For the money, i dont know why people buy mosquito's/walther p22's.

This gun bumped up before my sig p220, on my *to buy list*

Re: Chiappa 1911 22lr

Awesome. Glad to hear another positive review. At least of holding it ha. Hopefully the shop near me has one. Otherwise I think I will get it from G.B. and use them as the FFL. Bought off of G.B. before?

Re: Chiappa 1911 22lr

Forgot i made this thread ha. I ended up buying a GSG a few weeks ago off G.B. Experience on G.B. was great and started a new relationship with my local FFL which I like since he can get me a deal on my next gun ha. GSG is awesome. Very nice feel and a great shot. New grip on and waiting to duracoat.
