OK..I dont think my shoulders would stand up to lots of 338LM firing but I want a mile gun...

I have lots of 300WM and components on hand from the past...Lots of it...

Savage does not sell the Target Style right bolt right port LA that comes on the 110FCP in 338...the 110 FCP HS 300WM version uses a standard LA...

Besides feed lips on the mags and the bolt head...any other obstacles to swap one of these over to 300WM?

The Target Style RBRP action has to be a better, stronger option than the standard Savage LA.

Re: Converting a Savage 110 FCP HS 338 to 300WM?

I have 400+ loaded 300WM, 1000+ 1X fired Brass, lbs of powder and 1500+ 175-190 grain SMK on hand...hence my desire to go to 300WM with the conversion...

I think/believe the Target Style Action is stronger/stiffer than the standard LA

Any Savage barrel Nuts out there? I can find a 110 FCP HS 338LM for about a grand as a base rifle...

Opinion...is the Savage target style repeating action in RPRB configuration a better choice at setting up a stronger LA than a Savage standard LA?

I don't see why you couldn't go this route. I'm not sure if the Target action is going to actually make it better but if it were my choice I'd go that route. Obviously changing the barrel will be easy enough and I'd assume the bolt head is standard Savage as well. One possible way around the feeding issue is to see if the bottom metal from the .300 fits on the 110FCP .338 stock. I don't have access this week as my friend is out of town but can look into it for you Monday when he returns. I don't want to take the rifles apart but can measure as best I can to find out if they use the same footprint on the floor plate.

Just to revive this older thread, has anyone configured thier Savage 110 FCP 338 Lapua to also shoot 300 WM? Like the OP I have lots of 300 WM stuff and am in the market for a new 300 WM these days....

This one is tricky. You would need a new bolt face for a LA which is about 30 dollars. The firing pin should be the same width but I am not sure how much longer the 338 bolt face is. However, the firing pin protrusion is adjustable so it might be alright. I would seriously consider just getting a standard LA. At worst you will be limited from hanging a 30inch barrel from it...maybe. It would be much less of a headache, cheaper, and work just as well.
