It looks like he’s bitten off more than he can chew. Wrestling with a custom action decision without having the advantage in the decision’s native environment. It looks like the decision is winning at this point and Jim may be a goner. But first these words from National Geographic.I always preferred David’s narration.

Same! I was mistaken on my bolt heads though.Ohh. I got a shipping notice.
Ordered day one. .473” BF, 30MOA, black, classic knob, right hand.
Welp according to post #4075 we are fubared.Any wrong handed people receive any news yet?
I hear you...You can thank Wayfair v South Dakota for that... Ugh.
Nearly every place I order from now hits me with tax, unless they're small enough be be under the collection threshold of $100k in annual sales to your particular state (or whatever the current tax code is) and don't have to charge you. And that's not even a guarantee... Some places that I know are too small to charge tax hit me with tax, and some places I know are well over that $100k annual sales threshold don't charge me tax... Go figure.
I always prefer to buy from a good supporting vendor that doesn't hit me with sales tax, but they're very hard to find nowadays.
In other news, the longer I look at this pile of parts that's only waiting for an action the more I regret waiting until 2/11 to order. I told myself I wasn't in a hurry and the action will be here when it's here, but patience doesn't fill the CDG-shaped hole in my parts pile, lol.
In November when they get to day 2 orders they should be close lolWelp according to post #4075 we are fubared.
My HNT26 came in today. Everything clears no problem. Getting it all together this evening with a proof CF and TT special.I have a HNT26 in hand and waiting but no CDG to drop into it.
It looks like the trigger hangar should clear, but don't know for sure until the action is here.

Well you’d hear about God’s own Impact 737r owners bitching otherwise.Excellent, thanks for the confirmation. Seems like most chassis made in the last few years are being made with additional clearance for trigger hangers.
Speaking of Impact, how does their inlet compare to the ARC actions? I have a Mausingfield I want to put in a McMillan stock and the company has either R700 or Impact 787 inlets and I’m trying to decide which is best.Well you’d hear about God’s own Impact 737r owners bitching otherwise.
The port length on the CDG is very long, cant see either inlet working with it. The rear edge of the ejection port cutout on the stock will protrude well into the cdg port. You ordering direct? Mcmillan 100% has a Mausingfield inlet.Speaking of Impact, how does their inlet compare to the ARC actions? at least you know this will perform much better than the Solus you bought beforeOrder shipped!! So freaking excited!!! 2/8 9:38pm pst order, I got fluted red knob and both pivoting/non pivoting handle.
ARC has had a little more time building bolt guns. I bet the Solus 2.0 fixes any small issues they’ve had, if they ever do it.This doesnt look to bind every time you cycle and it looks like the barrels headpsace properly
Anyone tried the CDG in a Manners mini chassis? Does it fit or do modifications have to be made to the chassis? Also do AW mags run or does mag catch have to be modified? Thanks
Appreciate the info!Depends when the stock was made and what generation mini chassis it is.
The mini chassis in a fairly new TCS that I have looks like it will clear the trigger hanger just fine, which makes sense because people drop Impact 737s into TCS stocks all the time with no issues.
The mini chassis in a T4A that I have that was built around 2013-ish looks like it would need to be clearanced for the trigger hanger.
Can't confirm AW function with the stock mini chassis mag latch in the TCS that I have as I'm still waiting for my CDG. My hunch is an AW mag will run with an unmodified latch, but an AICS mag will need the latch trimmed to lower the mag so the feed lips don't interfere with the large diameter bolt.
The T2A GAP (with Gen2 MCS) I bought two years ago cleared a 737 no problem and fed from AW mags without issue.Depends when the stock was made and what generation mini chassis it is.

Are you going to use AW mags? The T2A GAP (with Gen2 MCS) I bought two years ago cleared a 737 no problem and fed from AW mags without issue.
Do keep us apprised on your impressions of the CDG.Order shipped!! So freaking excited!!! 2/8 9:38pm pst order, I got fluted red knob and both pivoting/non pivoting handle.
Longer the better, barrel length + action length + stock length + couple inches for the tip to exit barrel and your knuckles a couple inches from hitting the buttstock.Does anybody have any recommendations for cleaning rod length for the CDG on Xylo chassis? This would be length in addition to barrel of course. I‘m still waiting on my action, but it would be nice to get all the other bits out of the way.
No, they don’t work for the calibers I had my barrels chambered for.Are you going to use AW mags?
(should you need to borrow anything for your bill testing, I think I bought every conceivable option)
An ARC nucleus with 26” barrel is about 46”. Adding a couple of ‘couple inches’ puts that at 50”+. Looking at the Xylo chassis, it seems there would be decent room to work a rod above the buttstock. But maybe looks are deceiving.Longer the better, barrel length + action length + stock length + couple inches for the tip to exit barrel and your knuckles a couple inches from hitting the buttstock.
Don't hurt to have more, can' put more on later. An ARC nucleus with 26” barrel is about 46”. Adding a couple of ‘couple inches’ puts that at 50”+. Looking at the Xylo chassis, it seems there would be decent room to work a rod above the buttstock. But maybe looks are deceiving.
WorksAnother random question: Would it be a terrible idea to get a rod for 5.56 and use it for my AR’s and 6.5?
YesRod tips… do they have common diameter and threading at this size?
Nice! Might have talked me into saving a Benjamin.Don't hurt to have more, can' put more on later.
Works
Yes
From the picture it looks like an excessive amount of tooling marks. Am I crazy? She’s in jail for the weekend. All my 4473s get delayed because I’m a non-immigrant alien, but I meet the exception requirements.

Yeah, that bolt is so poorly done they scooped parts of it out! From the picture it looks like an excessive amount of tooling marks. Am I crazy?
Yeah, in front of the ejection port the circle tooling. Also it looks like a bunch behind the bolt knob and on the bolt shroud as well.Yeah, that bolt is so poorly done they scooped parts of it out!
Underside has tooling marks but that’s hidden by the waterline of the stock. Are you talking about in front of the ejection port it looks like there could be something there under the nitriding?
Every time I see the fluting in a picture I think it's running backwards, instead of left to right I think it should be right to left like a meat grinder. Pushing every thing forward rather than back to you. Either way I like it.That fluting is top 3 best on the market
Right hand helix. “Screw” the bolt closed.Every time I see the fluting in a picture I think it's running backwards, instead of left to right I think it should be right to left like a meat grinder. Pushing every thing forward rather than back to you. Either way I like it.

I manage to put wear marks on every tool I use where the intended wear is most likely to happen.Yeah, in front of the ejection port the circle tooling. Also it looks like a bunch behind the bolt knob and on the bolt shroud as well.
Ok, I could buy that. I'll have to lock that in my brain. A screw pressing the cartridge into the chamber.Right hand helix. “Screw” the bolt closed.
