Looking for Recs on Covert Rifle Cases to travel from home to the range. I usually walk through public areas to get to my vehicle so prefer not to bring attention to myself. My set up isn’t too big. Folding stock on a Cadex chassis. 18-20” barrel that area able to be removed quickly and can be installed at the range.

I’ve tried a Eberlestock Big Trick. But access to bag itself wasn’t too easy. Have had a sneaky bags spyder but it doesn’t unzip all the way? Weird.

So just looking for other recs on maybe things I haven’t seen yet. Another one I want to try is Hazard 4 battle axe a guitar style case.

Thanks

Look at the larger tennis bags that hold 3 to 4 racquets. They are nice gear bags as well. The good ones have pack straps.

Nice. Affordable compared to other options. May try to have some custom foam made or something for extra barrels, ammo, tools and to protect everything from moving around.
Actually after watching a video it’s all pretty separated so not necessary the padding between the sections should suffice

You would have to repurpose a case not designed to hold firearms, in my opinion. Those covert gun cases tend to stand out to people interested in firearms.

Good point. Something I thought about but they aren’t my real “worry”. But the guitar case or tennis racket should not draw wandering eyes

My favorite case, covert or not, is the Grey Ghost rifle case:

It doesn't come with the Pelican case, that's just showing the size and what it's like when open.

Big, non-descript rectangle. Sure, it's some large equipment, but might be a guitar or anything. Friends who live in big cities have them, go up and down elevators, etc. No one asks, no one seems to look. Just a case.

If you start adding identifiers you invite conversation. The neighbors will invite you out for tennis, hockey, etc. My neighborhood is musicians for no apparent reason (block parties have an ad hoc band of three different professional bands... it's weird) so if I had, before knowing this, decided to festoon my cases with guitar stickers, they would ask and I would be exposed. Think about your cover.

These are also an option for some guns: https://greyghostgear.com/collections/backpacks/products/apparition-sbr-bag

I have a keyboard case for places where the lease says "no firearms". When asked about my Pelican, I say it's a keyboard. Snow equipment gives lots of room.

Midwayusa has a model I've liked. It looks like a musical instrument case or advertising pop up unit case (in fact, I have used it for that when we couldn't find the case the night before we took down a display). It's decently made, better than most Blackhawk and Condor stuff I've seen. I've got a couple and at this point I've used them more for non firearm related tasks than firearm stuff.

They're on sale at the moment too. I've gotten the grey every time and like it. Not shiny, not totally dull, not too dark, not too light. Just right. lol
