Slick rig.
Whats it weigh?

Other than butt stock, I like your build list. Looks about perfect!
Gotta build one around a stock a buddy sent me.
Was for a chassis build for my daughter to shorten the LOP. The Luth stock was too long.
“Just keep it, I have others on the shelf” he said.
10 months later (last Oct 5) he passed. His widow said just keep it too.
So now I gotta build a rifle around it.

Nice deer too.
Always a good time punching tags.

11 lbs like it sits rigged out.

Sorry about your friend, and yeah I get building one for it if he was a close friend.

I did something similar recently. But, not with top tier parts. This isn’t a budget build. It’s a poverty build. But, it tips the scale at a pretty svelte 8lbs w/o optics. I don’t have a weight with scope, but sub 10 lbs with a 10 round mag, I imagine.

Shoots ~2 moa with cheap hunting ammo, and that’s good enough for the goal. Haven’t shot any match ammo yet.

(Yes, I know the parts don’t match. That was the idea…)

My "light" rigs always seem to end up 11-12lbs. CF barrel might help a little in that regard. LOL

That chunky optic is about 10 oz over weight what I could put on it and the bipods 1.5 lbs. so it “could” be a 9lbs rifle set up without any titanium or ultra light parts. I went with the CF proof because it’ll wear a suppressor full time adding another 6 oz when it’s let out of jail.
I will say I’m not as impressed with the 16” CF proof in 308 as my SS proofs though. Feel the profile is pushing the limits for accuracy with a CF barrel.

Very Nice looking rigs.

I am considering a 308 LFAR build w/ a 16" barrel... and while the muzzle blast is just fine in my 18" 308 LFAR's is fine, I can't help but wonder how much "worse" a 16" muzzle blast will be.

I would most likely use a Surefire Warcomp to help with muzzle flash.

I have very good luck with Criterion barrels, and would like to try the 16" with a RLGS.

If anyone can comment with first hand experience, I would appreciate it.

My 16" build would be more of a "compact" 308 LFAR, and no suppressor. ( yet ) , no hunting, just a more brute force AR if things went sour.

I did a PSA build with upgraded parts where needed, and had my buddy cut/thread the 18" down to a 16"...but its midlength gas. Shoots great honestly for what it is. I run a Rex can and I put the Griffin micro brake on it and fuck me its annoying. It's a lot of blast out of the 16". I'm switching it to a 3 prong flash hider.

Other than that, I love the 16" set up. Rifle gas would be nicer since I run suppressed, but I did put an SLR adjustable gas block on.

I haven’t been behind a 16” .308, but I’ve shot in the lane next to them, and it’s noticeable. My current .308s have 18” barrels, and I don’t mind those.

I’m interested in a 16” down the road as a ranch/hunting rifle, but it would be suppressed.
