CZ wouldn't do the Grendel because AA wanted to invoke his 'proprietary rights'. It wasn't worth it financially for them to do that. And for some reason, Bill wanted his round to 'make it' in an AR platform. He was not interested in having other platforms help take his cartridge off.
Added:
This is evident by the fact Remington did not chamber the 799 in 6.8SPC when they had full rights to that. Instead they chambered it in their 700. Different situation, but same issue.
Savage came out with the model 25 for these light medium rounds. But, built the rifle so cheap (looked cheap too) and wanted so much it never sold.
