Gunsmithing Deeper neck?

Hey guys,
has anyone had experience with cutting the neck deeper on a custom barrel to seat the bullet out farther on the rounds?

Are you wanting to load a heavier bullet?
Or same bullet but longer c.o.l.?

It would be a longer throat and yes, it's done all the time.

Yes you can push the throat back, they make throating reamers to do just that. I had it done to my .308 to shoot 208gr A-max bullets at 2.980-3" OAL.

Ok, I added a .25" to the throat on my 7mm wsm. Want to shoot either the 168 or 180 grain berger and also the hornady v-max and sst. I don't think i could seat the 120 v-max all the way out, but i guess i'll find out how they shoot.
