DEI Hire LA Mayor turns into a mute when confronted by reporter about Calif. fires.

If this is not squandering of money and lack of firefighting resources, I don’t know what is. 750k a year!!!

Meanwhile folks in NC are sleeping in tents still. This whole story has me lit up like a Christmas tree. We can send money to other countries. We can pamper California but

Maui got squat

East Palestine (US)got squat

North Carolina got $750

I just can’t wait for the big TV/streaming fundraisers and for this shitshow in California. They will be begging and bellyaching for months all the while blaming Trump and climate change.

Newsflash: Because of DEI “black women” are not looking very competent right now. This is what happens when you prioritize DEI over competency. This is not new, we knew this during the affirmative action days. It actually ends up diminishing the very demographic that they’re seeking to help.

This was all set up, no 2 ways about it.

Pulled the fire insurance option from homeowners.

Drained the reservoirs.

DEI tardz in charge of fire.

Called for an uncontrolled evac of the area, guaranteed to congest all the roads and deny fire trucks access since LA road infrastructure is built for the 1950s.

Arsonists galore. Citizens arrested one with a blowtorch riding along on a bike burning homes, LE released him.

Crashed a drone into the firefighting aircraft after finally getting clearance to fly.

Meanwhile in DC they drag this poor service-member off like he’s a rabid raccoon that they just put down.

Everyone there should hang their freaking heads in shame.

He locked his fucking knees and passed out. Know how many times I've seen this in ceremonies while I was in. He will be fine with sitting in a chair for 5 minutes.....

Doc

Oh yeah...right on time...the race card. IMO, any fucking politician who blame criticism for crisis and fuck ups during their term in office as being due to race should be recalled immediately.

As for people in LA...and sorry if this offends any SoCal members here...but you have voted for this kind of shit head time and time again so frankly I have zero sympathy and I absolutely oppose the Fed goverment paying for your fuck ups with our tax dollar.

Inmate fire crew... They literally pull inmates out of incarceration and put them to work as firefighters...

This isn’t new, and they don’t just pull them from prison. The Fire Crew Inmates, volunteer, for a little bit of pay, and a whole lot of “Earned Good Time”. They get trained, outfitted, and are on a short leash (Fuck up even slightly, and it’s back to the slammer with no good time). In one camp where I was Medical Section, they slept on the water bladders holding waste water from the kitchen (1,000 man camp), because it was warmer. They worked strictly Day Shift, and being all men, were quite a power-house on the line. They’d be at my tent at 0400, to get ankles taped, and dressings changed, because they didn’t want to go out sick, and needed the work. They were still convict assholes, but the amount of work we got out of them was kind of amazing.
The Indian crews were also impressive: Mescalero Apaches, came in on the same fire. What impressed me most, was their brotherhood. Anyone getting care (again, taping and blisters, etc) would potentially ask me to see to one of the other guys, because he needed something. Happened a lot. They took care of each other like my memory of the Infantry when I was in VN.
The one departure from the “woke” BS we are seeing in the LAFD, that I should mention: Another Apache team was al women: The “Iron Maiden’s”. They took no shit, hit the lines like they were supposed to, and while clearly not as strong, or big as the men, they certainly were tough enough for the job. Same blisters, and sprains, same work ethic, and a lot less complaining.

Stupid questions: Why were ankles taped, from sprains working on hillsides?
I'm sure blisters from rakes and shovels. They weren't issued gloves?

IT’s hard work. Out of a thousand people working the line, a percentage come back in with injuries. Most are nuisance but definitely a sign of how hard the work is, even with White’s Boots or other heavy duty foot wear. They wear gloves, bandanas over their hair and face, Nomex clothing. You see ankles, knees, shoulder strains, back pain. Smoke inhalation is not unusual either, and they work all night (or day) before coming in to see us. Acute serious injuries go straight to the hospital, we were just keeping the fighting force in trim. Imagine hoeing your garden, you Quit every few stokes to take a breath, right? They are wielding a much heavier tool, and go all shift, (Polaski or MacCloud), and set up a rhythm, and don’t take near as many breath breaks. Not nearly. And then a small group will come in all covered with red, from being too close to a slurry drop. If not frankly injured we still took care to document the exposure.
These guys and women are the closest thing to Infantrymen that I’ve seen. They work slightly injured, all season, even work sick, when a cold runs through the team, and rarely give up. I eveacced a guy who caught a rolling rock right in the breadbasket, on a night crew. He didn’t even hear it coming. I suspected a ruptured spleen, the rock was about the size of a basketball, and when I got to him (I was actually on the fire line with the line boss), his abdomen was rigid, and he didn’t look so hot. We trucked him to an open area, and called a helicopter in to take him straight to the Hospital in Redding (from near Happy Camp).

I remember there was a 4th generation rancher in the area where I grew up that would intentionally burn off sections of his land with the intention of getting rid of the rattlesnakes that bit his hunting dogs. They were not 'controlled' burns but quite the opposite.

I remember the neighbors, all hard working, brush clearing, cedar chopping hill folk, would say that was the hardest work you can imagine, trying to stop a wall of flames with axes, shovels and wet burlpap sacks.

Happy as shit to be out. I know I’d rather be out working. Time locked up sucks.

Plus the work time likely get time off their sentence.

Still have my reservations about the state leaning on inmate labor

Yeap it's not new and they work their asses off. They get money, time off sentence, plus you get to be outside going something and not inside a cement box all day.
