I'm trying to find reviews on this reticle, but have only come across a smattering of commentaries here and there.

I like the uncluttered layout of the MSR Reticle, and how it lends to easy "size, range, and click - click - click" using its unobtrusive rulers.

The AMR reticle seems interesting, but I was wondering if one can measure target size (and estimate range) with similar precision using this reticle. I understand that the layout was designed to favor quick holds without twisting any knobs for longer ranges, using a "size, range, and hold" approach.

Does the "christmas tree" portion tend to fade into the background, however?

Any comments would be welcome.

I forgot to mention - the platform the scope is going to be paired with is a 24" .308 Win bolt gun, used purely for recreational shooting between 600 to 1000 meters.

I went with the AMR on my 338lm for the ability to do holds at longer ranges. It's open enough to see your splash if you miss a shot and make corrections and it's also broken down fine enough to use for ranging like the msr. Seemed like the best of both worlds to me. That being said my center dots are not equal in size an issue I'm currently trying to work out with Ken. Otherwise fantastic optic.

I see what you mean.

I can imagine that'd get annoying after prolonged use, seeing that one tiny imperfection in the most vital of areas shot after shot after shot. Kind of like a tiny isolated "sand blasting" mark on your windshield - it doesn't detract from the overall driveability of your truck, but it gets on your nerves in time.

Is it a consistent manufacturing defect, or an isolated case?

According to ken there is at least 1 other exactly like mine currently at the factory in Austria (he skyped the engineer and it was midnight there) He didn't have any scopes with my reticle on hand to check further. I will say that kahles customer service is amazing and I am more than being taken care of.

Does anyone have pictures of the reticle at lower magnification, at targets in front of grass or some other vegetation?

I'm interested to see what's visible and what isn't, as far as target and reticle are concerned.

Edsel,
I'll work on getting a few pics for you tomorrow. More sagebrush than grass this time of year. Any preferred distance?

Thanks!

Anywhere between 200 and 600 meters is fine, or whatever distance you're shooting at then.

I'm just curious to see if the reticle fades into the background, and if the "Christmas Tree" portion obscures much of the view (at lower magnifications, in particular).

Hopefully that gives you what you need. Again please forgive my lack of photography skills.

I just ordered a Kahles K624i with the AMR reticle. It should be in next week and I am super stoked. I will post up some pics when I get it, but I already love it just from what I have seen of it so far.

Dad-burn it - I've been trying to be patient until I could get a close look at one of the new Burris 5-25x50 XTR IIs and/or Vortex Gen II Razor 4.5-27x56s. Don't think I'm gonna be able to hold out that long. These K642i AMR scopes look & sound to be everything I've been looking for. I like the idea of having the parallax ring under the elevation knob, and the AMR reticle looks good too.

Have been putting some cash back every chance I got - could swing the deal for one, and really do need another scope. I robbed a SIII 6-24x50 LRMOA off my DTA SRS to put on a new 260 Imp 30* build, and that DTA logo on the ocular bell would look good on the SRS...

Well, it took a couple of weeks longer to get the Kahles than I'd expected, but it's now mounted & zeroed at 600. It was so windy & dusty Friday that all I managed was to get it mounted on the DTA SRS with my 6x47 Bartlein bbl and put 10rds downrange from 600yds. And it's probably going to be later this week before we get another day with decent shooting conditions, if the last 7-day forecast I saw is close to right. BUT - I will have a solid 100yd zero on it before the next Spearpoint match, and WILL have shot a box to confirm click value, and WILL have checked the reticle against a target of known dimensions so I can use it with confidence.

So far, I can say that I'm impressed with the quality of the K624i AMR. Optical quality is about what I expected - excellent. Am looking forward to a decent day for comparing the optical quality to that of my Bushnell GZA 3-21x50 ERS. One thing's for sure - I need to take the time to learn the AMR reticle, as there's a little more to it than the G2DMR of the ERS. I'm very impressed with the smoothness of the controls, the clicks of the knobs, and the location of the parallax ring. Only problem so far is the battery compartment cover is screwed on so tightly that I haven't been able to remove it to install a battery so I can see what I think of the reticle illumination. Sure don't want to screw up the coin slot or anything else accomplishing that.

Here's a shot comparing the size of the Kahles to that of the ERS mounted on my 260 Imp 30* -
