Deer have antlers not horns. You’re thinking of goats..or rhinocerous.

And I take you've never hunted for any of those. It's an expression..........

but I'm not angry when a 160 walks out.

on mule deer it's all bout the antlers.

I trophy hunt, otherwise my hunt would be over as soon as the sun came up opening morning. Also, my freezer usually has an abundance of beef in it.

But the best tasting deer I've ever ate was last year's kill. This freaky "Stag" had like an inch of back fat.

I’d say a mix of both. I usually look for a mature buck, usually they’ll have some weight to their antlers but they could also be on the down hill side of antler growth. I’ve shot a few very old regressed mule deer.
