I don't think so. A large number of people were not voting for Biden, rather it was a vote against DJT. Also, a lot of votes were cast in fear of Covid, which was the plan all the while.
To begin with, they are NOT Patriots. They are whiny, sniveling, I only care about getting all I want without having to put the work in the get it fucksticks. School and college indoctrination.
Too many ignorant, uneducated people who want to be taken care of. They don't understand history or what they are going to get. Short -termed hedonists Albert Ellis termed people like that. I'm in my latter 60's and have never seen our country anything like it is now. It is only going to get worse, probably beyond anything I can imagine. This evil should have stomped out years ago.
I do not think half the country wants socialism. I'm sure there are many who do, even though I doubt many of them can even articulate what "socialism" is as it would be practiced here in the USA.
I think many millions voted against Trump because they can not stand how he has conducted himself in office, his personal behavior and attitudes and actions.
Further many were voting against Trump because they believe he has not handled the COVID-19 situation well and are hopeful new leadership will.
Then of course there are millions who are Democrats to the core and support their party.
And the reverse is true for those of us who voted for Trump.

Mcameron, you are exactly right. If people actually looked at the platforms without names, it would have been a landslide. Only weak minded people vote based on personalities and what makes them feel emotionally good and only a complete fool ignores the differences between two platforms and chooses to vote for the platform that is against their own best self interest. But that’s exactly what’s happened and we will all suffer for the foolishness of those congregated in large cities. The Democrats have got to be laughing all the way to the bank at the stool pigeon fools who voted for them as they plan the fleecing of America with the corruption they will bring that will be protected by the media. For the record, I believe mostly the same about many republican career politicians and that’s why I liked Trump so much. He’s the most pro American president in my lifetime outside Reagan.
The reality is Democrats are popular as a party because they promise to give things to the lower and middle class, doesn't matter if they actually follow through on it. Their social media is much better than Republicans, and the mass media supports them at every turn. Trump was what angry people wanted in 2016, a non-politician that was going to buck the system, plus many independants didn't vote for Trump in 2016, they voted for anyone BUT Clinton. Unfortunately his stupid antics got old really quick. Funny this time around many independants didn't like Biden either, but they voted for anyone BUT Trump.
To be honest it's actually amazing Trump didn't lose by a landslide, and that should be a positive for us going forward, if we can find a professional candidate by 2024 and appeal more to the lower and middle classes we can easily take back the presidency. If Trump had an ounce of professionalism, and stopped spounting stupid stuff, he'd have won this election, he only has himself to blame for how he behaves. Covid was just bad luck, and without covid, Trump probably would have won too, no one could have fixed Covid, but Trump looked like an idiot contradicting top virus experts, the CDC, etc. at every turn, refusing to take it serious while 235,000 Americans died.
It simply comes down to if Republicans want to remain in control you have to appeal more to the lower and middle classes, not just the rich and corporations.
The median household income has not increased in 20 years significantly, and that's not including inflation, which is gamed to be lower than it really is, meaning the middle class is going backwards. More Americans are sliding closer and closer to poverty. Democrats promise to help them while Republicans try to reduce those benefits. Not hard to guess which is more popular.

I don't agree with everything you have said here but I have often felt that conservatives, at the least the ones I'm exposed to here and on other forums, vehemently disregard larger economic issues that exist in this country.

Heck I don't agree with most of what's written there, but it's not hard to see it's exactly what the mass media and DNC is pedaling to the masses, and many of them are swallowing it hook, line, and vote. I also agree that many people I interact with don't believe there's any economic issues. I mean let's face it, we're on a forum where guys are dropping $5-10k on a rifle setup, arguing about which $3000 scope we should buy next. None of us are on the low end of the income spectrum. The long term economic outlook is very bleak, most have no pension, few have any significant retirement. We're not going to throw seniors into the street and let them starve to death so sooner or later everyone is going to have to pay for that. A large part of the problem is Republicans tend to be so arrogant we can't imagine how anyone couldn't see the world how we do, and write anyone off that doesn't as stupid sheep. As such we do little if anything to actually try to sway people to our viewpoint. When what we really should be doing is trying harder than anyone because we have teachers and the mass media already pushing the DNC's agenda 24/7 to compete against.
As for half of the country being okay with losing the 2nd Amendment, in my experience it comes down to 4 situations:
1) Gun enthusiasts, we remember the 94 AWB we know it's their agenda, preaching to the choir. Unfortunately we're not even the majority of gun owners. For every gun owner that has a safe full of AR's, there's a dozen that just own a rifle/shotgun for hunting or handgun for self defense.
2) Gun owners that just own hunting rifles/shotguns maybe a handgun for home defense. They simply don't believe the DNC is after "their" guns, most are not concerned if "assault weapons" get banned. They don't own one, never will, and see no need for them. They also don't believe that anyone is coming for their guns. It's one reason the DNC candidates are very careful to say they support hunting and self defense but are against "assault weapons". It keeps this group complacent.
3) Impartial non-gun owners, frankly they don't care what happens to guns. They have no vested interest, if banning every gun in the country saved 1 life they'd consider it a good trade off. It's like if you told me you wanted to shut down golf courses and turn them into parks so everyone can enjoy the space. I don't golf, but I'd sure like another park to go hang out in, so how appauled am I going to be and how hard am I going to fight against shutting down golf courses? Not very.
4) Anti-gun peeps, we all know they can't wait for guns to be taken away, they learned what didn't work in the 94' AWB and the next one will be worse. Mass media is making more of them every day.

From the view of a high school teacher in Florida who has witnessed many young people grow up from a lot of different areas and walks of life, I can tell you that our value systems have changed. This didn’t happen over night, but a slow methodical infiltration of our value systems coupled with laziness and instant gratification has caused massive shifts in the core attitudes and character of people and thus results in easy manipulation. Some people actually know what they believe in and understand the world around them. However, each year the number of people that are completely clueless and are just following the rest because they lack the competence to hold themselves accountable increases. It’s devastating to watch the future generations of our society in such demise.
