I just bought a srs a1 covert with the 16” 308win conversation kit. I have a delta p design muzzle adapter with a q cherry bomb suppressor mount on the front. Glass is a vortex razor gen2 3-18 in a ADM 20moa mount. (Pulled scope and mount off a different rifle that shot under .5moa) anyway those are the specs. I assembled the rifle as per desert techs instructions and my first shot was a light strike... not too promising. Rifle shot after that but I can’t get a group smaller than 3” at 100yds... using NORMA match 168gr factory ammo (same lot and shoots .41moa out of my McMillan tac-308). I’ve checked everything for looseness and it’s solid as a rock. I even took the barrel off and re installed again to no effect. I didn’t take the thread adapter off or the suppressor mount but I looked and there are no strikes.Cleaned the barrel after every 5 shots. In the end I used 40rds and had 3 light strikes with the worst grouping I’ve ever seen. Anyone got any advice?

In regard to the light strikes, disassemble the bolt and check for grease or other schmoo in the striker pin channel.

As for the grouping, it could be that the rifle/barrel just hates that load. It happens. Try different ammo and let us know how it goes.

Yeah I will pick up different ammo and see if that changes anything. From what I was reading the Srs didn’t seem to care what it was shooting it at least held a <Moa group. I will take the bolt apart and clean the channel. Even though I just bought it it was manufactured in 2013 so I’m sure whatever grease was used has probably gone bad. I will update with pictures when I get it back to the range. As far as shooting the Srs goes, I can see why people enjoy them. Really enjoyed the trigger.

Tested the covert last saturday without the delta P adapter and it shot great. Consistently sub moa regardless of the ammo It shot. Those 175gr pills were the best though. Took it out to 655yds on a 6in gong and had 5 out of 5. Velocity is painfully SLOW though. I might work up a lighter load to see if I can get out to distance without having to correct so much. It took 26.5moa to get to 655....

I have a gemtech that has a two lug quick mount and can be mounted correctly and shoot tight or also rotated 180 and the groups are about 8+ inches. No baffle strikes. Just something goes wonky.
