Parallex on my test with the NF NX-8 2.5-20x50 was set to infinity for the most even and crisp image.I’m pretty sure Dan told me the xELR model was setup for a 100yd/m parallax setting. He needed to double check on the LR model.
One thing I’ve noticed on parallax in general though is the numbers on the side usually don’t actually correlate to the actual setting a user needs at that particular distance. I might have known a guy that received a brand new TT when the gen3xr reticle came out that would focus past 600yds. It sucks to have to send a brand new scope back around the Christmas holidays

Friendly reminder that parallax is properly removed by actually removing parallax (not by achieving best focus). The two are mutually exclusive on most scopes, including most high end scopes. Even if they happen to be the same on your scope, adjusting focus is subjective and will change each time you do it. Correct parallax adjustment is objective (not subjective) so you’ll get it right every time.
For best POA/POI results, remove parallax and your focus should still be very close to optimal.
It’s totally fine to pursue best focus for giggles, or for best PID, but shooting on “best focus” is inferior to shooting with parallax removed, so just be aware of the trade off.

They have a video out port, I wonder if they’re just saying “device can be used with video/image capture systems”

It has internal picture/snap shot storage. The video would be via video out. Same setup as a UTC.
In what situations is the LR the right choice over the xELR and vise versa? Is the LR the sweet spot for hunting and some mid-range steel. When would you really want the xELR?

What sort of day optic would pair best with the clipir-LR? I want to use one on my 22 creed which is wearing a March 4.5-28x52 currently. I could swap the zco420 on my ai. Or pick up a used NF 4-16X42 atacr I've been eyeing.
I run a zco 4-20 with my Lwts-LR. The 2.5-20 NX8 is another great option for clipons.
Any quality LPVO is going to be better suited for a clip on of this fov. At a base of anything more than 3x optical, you're going to start cutting into the image resolution noticeably. Something like 4.5x base mag scope is going to be better suited for the xELR (who's FOV is 5.3⁰ vs 8.3⁰ on the LR, which means more demag in the eye piece).
I’d like to see a video comparison of a high end thermal clip on vs NV PVS30 or PVS24 LR. I know it’s two completely different technologies, but this is where I’m at right now. The biggest appeal to thermal for me is being able to use it regardless of day or night. I wouldn’t use it during broad daylight but those transitional periods from sunset to darkness are a real PITA. Too bright for NV but too dark for natural eyesight.

Noted. I like the price of these eotechs, but when you're paying 16k for a giant ass clip ir xlr, and you can spend 20% more and get into a voodooM which has less than half the weight and footprint, I'm kinda leaning that direction. It'll be impossible to run a lrf on the picatinny scope bridge due to both the LR and XLRs dimensions.
The Raptar clears the entire ClipIR line up with a high Spuhr Raptar rail for those that want to run it at 12 oClock over the scope.
The voodoo M looks sweet, but at the same time (knowing someone who tested it) apparently the pixel pitch on the display isn't the best. That, and it has a 6.4⁰ FOV, meaning its going to be a noticeably lesser clip on compared to 5.3⁰ FOV'ed xELR. Also.......the xELR has a 10 year warranty compared to a 1 year with POT.
That being said, there is a massive penalty to weight and size compared to the Voodoo M. That much is true.
I am running the mid range EOTECH thermal right now and love it with my 1-10. I will have the LR version in hand soon so I can compare but the MR size is great on a carbine.

So I found a dealer whos gonna give me a great price one the clipir-lr. Just have to wait for it te become available for him to get delivery. I need a scope recommendation to run behind it. I currently have available, nx8 4-32x50, zco420, March 4.5-28x52. I do not own much for lpvo ans theyre occupied on ars. This is going to be on a lightweight short barrel supressed 22 creed in a element 4.0 magnesium chassis, already have nv bridge. I've read a lot of guys liking the 2.5-20 nx8. I looked through these prior to getting the 4-32 model, i felt it gave up a lot of eyebox and depth of field to the 4-32 model. This will likely only be ran inside 500y. Would an atacr 4-16x42 be better? From spunds of it, you want a smaller objective Short body scope. Im not opposer to the mk5hd 3.6-18x44 either.
I'd look for a scope with a field of view wide enough to somewhat match the FOV of the clip on, and a high enough magnification to keep you happy during day use.
Exactly the route I went. I have a TigIr, and honestly, the NF is great. The 2.5-20 is good enough. The brightness of the mk5 3.6-18 is nice, but I feel like I lose out starting with 3.6x. I plan on running my gen3 1-10 and the NF 2.5-20 with it, and the Voodoo S will get the Atacr 1-8s.

Was under the impression that they were in QC checks at Eotech but learned yesterday that customs has them still. Hoping next week the first batch gets sent out. ....but more realistic is week after. Didn't anticipate customs taking this much time but probably should have. 50 inbound and 55 a few weeks after. It was capped at 105. Still 1 or 2 left but they are mostly spoken for.
Does a guy need 1.4 or 1.5" rings to line these up properly? I have an element 4.0 chassis with nv bridge, and just ordered my 2.5-20 nx8. Maybe just wait till everything is here figure height on the rings.
You are going to need higher than 1.5 because the NV hood sits significantly higher than the action. It will depend on your action but I would guess at least 1.7

ah, i was answering for generic situation, that is unusual ! Usually if there's an offset its lower to the front to allow for large scope bells, but on that setup its "backwards" !

I generally love xlr, but this is bullshit. Why would they design a nv bridge that requires the end user to utilize the highest mounts possible, there are virtually NO ring options, only limited unimounts. I went with a magnesium element and a bat bumblebee action to keep the rifle light, the actions integral pic rail is interrupted so most unimounts will not work. This is a huge fail on their part. Integrate a damn pic rail into the nv bridge as one unit so it is on same plane with a rem700 clone action pic rail. 95% of nv/Thermal require 1.4-1.5" mounts to get colammination. This is a situation where its blatant a company did zero homework on product design. I'll be sending the top half my bridge off to my smith to see how much he can Mill it down, id say 0.150" should be very doable and judging by your picture of the two rails, get them close to being colinier.

I have a magnesium XLR sitting in the safe waiting on my 52-week-lead-time Defiance Anti-x and I was looking at this exact issue a couple months ago. Truth is, not many chassis manufacturers get this right except for PDC customs. I have two of their chassis and their NV mount is the best in the biz that I personally have seen and run. It's always an afterthought to the other guys it seems. I also don't like you can't get the mount in magnesium as well for the XLR. I'm hoping maybe some awareness can be raised and they can go back to drawing board on the mount.

The AX AICS for Remington incorporates an action rail that mates up to the forend rail to keep everything on the same plain.
Because my 591R doesn’t follow the same geometry as a R700 with its built in 20 MOA rail, I had to jump to 1.65-1.89” rings depending on the clipon. It works buts not ideal.
Lol my PDC G5LE doesn’t get my Tig nearly low enough even on the lowest bridge groove, I’m going to have to get much higher rings if I want to use it.
But, life is full of trade-offs and having had two of those and generally loved them, the issue was, in those days, I was running "big heavy scopes" on my "big heavy rifles ... and while the bells of the 56mm scopes didn't actually touch the forerail ... the tennebrex objective covers did touch the forerail, so I had to remove them and put them back on and remove them and put the back on ... as I didn't want to shoot with anything touching the scope and touching the forerail. It wasn't the end of the world. I was using 1.34" spuhr mounts to line up with the UTC(s) at that point. Using 1.5 mounts would aleviate.
