Anyone know what the deal with them is now? Can't see how they will stay in business and on top of that, fund R&D, etc., if they have to buy back every sight they ever made. I have one that's 13 years old (thereabouts) that they are buying back for (actually more than it cost, but that was in 2004 dollars) PLUS $15 for shipping. I know WHY they have to do this, but I don't know HOW they will survive it. Because the number one replacement for the EoTech I have is, wait for it, another EoTech. I'm not operating in tundras or deserts but I DO live in WA and those temps aren't uncommon at all in Yakima in summer and Rainier in winter (outside the park of course). I'm more apt to reach the higher temperatures, in particular if the rifle is sitting in the sun, in a trunk, etc. --then the sight is shit. I mean, 5MOA drift makes it useless past point shoot range anyway. In addition, I'm sure drift starts at x0 temp and reaches y angle at x1 temp, so what it's doing at say, 100 degrees? What's worse is that the drift doesn't just return to normal when it cools down, no, it's a permanent fuck or until it heats up again and gets worse (or maybe better). It's a fucking coin toss!
Makes me wonder what the other collimated sights are doing at temp. I'm certainly testing the MRO when I get one. Maybe boil the fucker and pop it back on and see how it does, that's the only way to really know.
Lucky I never had to rely on this fucking thing, but I know a lot of people that have. It also explains those "WTF?" shots. I always just blamed myself and plus it was used mostly for when I was moving or the target was, so there was that.
Just pissed and feel like my partner cheated on me. They sold a range toy for $$$ and passed it off as a tier one sight when all along the Bushnell version was just as good because fuck, even if it breaks it's only worth a few bucks. At least I never relied on it so there's that, but it makes me wonder about some of my buddies that did who aren't here. Most bad shit doesn't happen because your sight craps out, but still... They lied and fucked over good people and saw it coming and had enough put away to settle the goddamn suit on day one. That tells you something right there, they saw it coming and charged us all extra in case this happened.
I bet those goddamn things didn't cost ten bucks to make.
Funny thing is you can find 'em on Ebay for $300 --they'd get more to email EoTech! Maybe I should become a brokerage for their recall. But settling on day one doesn't make the news and hell, I just found out last week and I'm into this shit all the time.
