At night, hold your flashlight at arm's length over your head to look much bigger than you really are and when the sniper mils you he'll think you're closer than you are and shoot low.

About not looking important, that won't help if you're the only target around. Japanese kamikaze pilots were told to pass up the escort vessels and go for the carriers, but in real life, they would just crash into the first thing they saw because they didn't know if they would ever find anything else before running out of gas. Off Okinawa it got so bad that one destroyer crew painted a big white arrow on deck and wrote under it "Carriers THAT Way!"

most of the times snipers evade you and then in turn get into position in which they can take a shot at you.

if you find that you are getting shot at by a sniper and he missed his first shot then i suggest taking cover in a building and not look through the windows because he may not miss his second.

wait and survive through the fire fight that happens next. expect RPGs and small arms fire.

as your exposing yourself to return fire expect him to be taking shots in your direction or he may be getting into a better position to cover your most likely escape route (if you just happen to not be taking fire from the west its a good chance they want you to run that way).

basically there are 1 million things that can happen and most of them are not in your favor.

if you want to know how to evade a sniper you might want to learn how to do things you will have to live with for a long time. as for the "stupid responses" to a "serious question", i don't see any stupid responses and i hardly see this question as being serious.

Don't worry bro, I feel your pain. Perhaps I can be of assistance.

Since you want sniper evasion skills in both rural and urban areas I am assuming the bank you want to rob is in a small town, no harm in that, let's see what we can do to help you get away.

Also since you are worried about the snipers I guess it's safe to say you plan on sticking around inside the bank until they have the whole block sealed off and have had enough time to bring in a sniper or two, maybe not the best plan but let's work with that.

Plant some home-made claymore's in all the likely firing positions around the bank, then pop smoke and set off your charges as you are about to exit the building.

Should be good as gold from that point on man.

Don't forget to post your awesome get away on youtube so you can get the credit for it.

Seriously though, if you are being hunted by someone even halfway competant, you are going to die, end of story.

I taught combat and tactical tracking at TTOS for many years under David Scott-Donelan. DSD has over 35 years combat experience in the Rhodesian SAS and Selous Scouts, I have been around a little also. Counter tracking, anti tracking, counter sniping, tactical ruses and feints, and visual evasion were courses we taught to STS, RRD, SAD, FBI, DEA and CAG on more than one occasion. How to kill a sniper team and how to ambush and kill a trained tracking team to include measures to thwart the use of dogs are aspects of the POI. It is a lost art and one that few understand and can effectively apply. I am currently looking for a venue to teach these skill sets through. FYI: a criminal back round check, Mil or LE affiliations, copious references and need to know are required to attend such training. Civilians were not accepted in any of our classes. A lot of this would depend on the situation but from my experience, evading anything or anyone is best done at night. Keep a low profile, move in the shadows, and move slowly. Seriously, if it really came down to it, you don't want to face a sniper or multiple snipers head on in the daytime. You won't stand a chance. Moving at night is your best option. if that is not an option then you serpentine, break up your outline as much as possible to blend with your environment. Get out as quick as possible. Wow, after rereading this that sounds like some ninja shit LOL. Move in the shadows LMAO. I like it. It works for real, unless they have thermal or nightvision, then you are screwed. At least with thermal you can try to hug up against other things known to give off a good heat signature but no matter what the case, good luck.

There is so much of this going around in the gun / tactics world its amazing to me. If you apply basic logical extrapolation to this mindset, that a 'bad guy might use ______ tactics...' you could literally use this logic to ban guns in civilian hands because a criminal might get a hold a gun, or get trained to use a gun, etc.

But, whatever floats your boat.

could be the reason snipers are so hated by the recieving team. i am not and never will be a sniper. i can hit what i am at. as far as taking a sniper type shot? i can hide around the farm and you will never see or find me. i know my area better than you ever would, ranges, landmarks, what is there now that wasn,t there this morning. now i don,t think i could crawl to your AO and set up for a one shot kill without knowing you would probably find me and.....don,t want to think about that part.
sniping is an art as much as a science. firearms, arborist, weather man, human computer and some self torture thrown in.
for S and G have somebody hide a football in a feild and try to locate it while behind cover.

The only thing I can say is after you've surveyed the close up area you plan to move through, take a look at high points in the terrain around where you plan to move through. They may or may not hold a shooter who is good enough to get you on your way through.

In contrast, a really good sniper isn't going to pick a high point, but rather a low point that gives best observation of the route he is most sure you are going to take. Without being able to <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-style: italic">change your route and maintain concealment</span></span> (that's huge here), you are at his mercy.

A sniper who doesn't like you is there because he is good and ...he is on the other side.
As I mentioned the only thing you can do is change your route and hopefully maintain concealment. In an urban environment, it's not always block to block, movement can be within structures, therefore providing concealment.

I'd say the point is...evasion hasn't worked out so well might want to pick a different topic like. Hmm tips on positional shooting orrr maybe tips on hunting, reloading etc. No no no ask about the counter sniper scope as a quality optic.

Kidnap Ophra, Roseanne & Whoopie ...dress them in heavily Rhinestoned Dresses.....wait till sun is high & at your front and send them out first ...the resulting reflections of Gazillions sunrays off the wall of rhinestones will singe out the eyes of your hunters and you can walk away from the threat without conflict

Wouldn't just watching "Enemy at the Gates" give the OP everything he really needs? I mean, really? It even has blown to shit urban areas, which is where I'm sure OP is planning his theatre of operation. I could be wrong though. In which case, he should watch "Sniper" with Tom Bergeron and Billy Zane, two pros if I ever saw any.

It has to come naturally to you. It should be so natural that you don't even realize you are doing it. That's how it worked for me. All this time I put no thought into evading a sniper and apparently I have successfully evaded the snipers! I'd hate to see the hell I could unleash if i actually tried instead of cracking another beer....but the liver is evil and must be punished...just keep evading.
