I've got a secondhand Falcon Menace 4x14 FFP mil/mil on my rifle. It seems to be an excellent scope, but when I dial it up in power, it becomes almost impossible to get a clear view through it. Unless I'm absolutely perfectly positioned behind it, it's just grey or tan noise - no view at all. Even when I can see a little bit, it's tan or grey glare at the edges. Is the Falcon stuff just very demanding about position, or is mine messed up? It's basically to the point that I just don't dial it up past about 8X because it's so hard to see through.

If these are just finicky, what brands/models are most forgiving in that respect? I varmint hunt prone, and nearly never have the "perfect" position available.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Falcon clarity?

Well, that's encouraging, I guess - maybe I can get another and be better off, at least.

So what do I do with a jacked Falcon - can they be sent in for repair or inspection, or just relegate it to a short range project and go buy another scope?

Re: Falcon clarity?

I would agree w/ LoneWolfUSMC. Mine is not perfect off axis, but always useable. See if you can find out who the distributor was. They handle warranty issues.

Re: Falcon clarity?

Same here

I had a 4-14 and it was pretty forgiving. If I was off center a little, I could always get a decent picture....

I will say that the parallax was a little more finicky than others but nothing that I would consider "bad"

Falcon will probably tell you to contact the distributor you purchased from. They will handle the warranty work.

Re: Falcon clarity?

Okay. I bought it second-hand, so I reckon I get to eat this one. I think that I'm going to start buying optics new from a dealer from now on, just in case they need work somehow.

Do you know who the original owner bought it from? Depending on the dealer you may still be able to get the warranty honored. These things have serial numbers, it's not like you need a receipt or something to track it.
