We've been using Cuddeback model 1231s for the ranch. With lithium batteries they do ok and shoot good pictures and are user friendly to set up, but out of the 11 or so cameras, 1 refuses to work, and 2 occasionally shoot long segments of grey pictures for some unknown reason. Could possibly be the woodpeckers damaged the sensor cover and allows moisture inside (the ones that shoot grey)? They'll be starting their 3rd season this fall.

Extra info - live in texas so lithium batteries have helped with temperature extremes throughout the season, but i wonder if this is part of the issue with cameras lasting. Also being in west texas, cameras will be placed at feeders, not on trails.

Exploring switching to another brand to replace the broken cameras ex. Bushnell, stealthcam, wildgame innovations.

Stealthcam has really caught my eye. The prospect of having pictures sent to my cell phone is also enticing...

What are your favorite durable and user friendly trail cameras (as well as any thoughts on the matter) and why?

I’m cheap and have several of the $50 wildgames. They are he 12mp models i believe. Very easy set up, easy on batteries and take good pictures as far as I’m concerned. I’ve got two older mouletieres and I’m not impressed. Fucking ants made their way inside one of them...that was a hell of a surprise

I really like the bushnell. I have several different models of the trophy cam and like them better than the others I have tried. They just seem to work. I often see them for less than 100$ . Several other brands I have used seemed prone to failing and needed to be sent in for repairs to often.

Recently tried a spycam ( cellular version ) because it was cheaper than the bushnell . I regret it.
It took 4 hours on the phone to figure out that the app used to control the cam had a bug. Now the camera has a problem and needs to be returned. Only had it for a week...

I will be returning it and buying the bushnell wireless

Good to know, I haven't really ever heard anything bad about bushnell come to think of it.

+1 on the bushnells. I have a few of the HD blacklight versions. They are great. Bought a new aggressor model and do hit like it as much. I think they took a step back on that model, or I could have just
Been the one I got.

We have 12 Cuddeback cameras on our ranch. Not many issues. There are cameras that take better pics, especially at night, but the CBs have been tough and you don't get false triggers by blowing weeds and grass.

I've been using Browning Strike Force Cameras for the last couple of years and love them...price is great for what you get in a camera.
Picture quality is good and so is the video. They have recently upgraded flash and sensors in some models so they keep getting better.
Good value...

No, just the plain brick shaped Cuddebacks. We had some of the ones from Cabelas that look like a tree trunk, they weren't any count.
Sounds like you're using the same ones we're using. We have 12 (or so) as well. I really am starting to think the all grey pictures are due to the woodpeckers pecking the sensor cover. Otherwise they work well. Just wanting to explore my options though. Bushnell seems to be really popular.

I'm surprised I haven't heard more about stealthcam. seems like everyone who's taking gamecam pics and posting to IG is using them.

We've had a woodpecker problem on a few of ours too.
