Any shooters here on the east coast of florida? I would love to get a small group together for fun and to find a place where someone could shoot longer than the typical 300 yds or so that most of the local ranges max out at. I shoot an M40-A1, 98B in 338 lapua, an M1A, and a model 99 in 50 BMG.
If anyone is interested drop me a line

Thanks,
George

Where on the east coast are you? In Central; Florida, you can google Volusia County Gun & Hunt Club and Volusia Long Range Shooting. There is already a group of us shooting out to 1200 yds and occasional small FPR matches.

I am near the Brevard/Volusia county line in Mims. I went out to the range in Volusia county when it was first started to check it out but at that time you could only shoot to 1000yds on Mondays when it was closed because the line went across the entrance to get that distance, has it changed since then?

Yes, it certainly has. However, anything past 300 yds is still something you need to plan for and watch the Facebook page of the volusia long range shooting club as mentioned above. It becomes dicey during hunting season as there is controlled hunting on that land. But do yourself a favor and spend some time checking it out.

You cannot just show up and expect to shoot at more than 300. That's just the reality, but if you stay tuned to what is going on, you can shoot at least once a month during the summer at 400-1200 yds. If you're not adaptable, then it's your choice.

They've just announced approval to have shooting out to 1760 yds, but that again is a separate deal, that you'll pay extra for and plan for. Hey, this is Florida, not one of the plains states with almost unlimited gov land to shoot out to distance.
