The technology is there to solve this problem. I am on the fence about arming teachers. I am sure there is a % that could do the job easily but the first time a kid got shot by mistake, there would be an uproar and such a HUGE I TOLD YOU SO, that 2A would receive its toughest challenge.

The fact is that arming teachers is the cheapest solution. I am sure that is no coincidence. Israel is brought up as an example repeatedly but everyone in Israel, including women, go and serve and are trained to handle a gun.

I take a group of teachers (usually the same ones, mostly women) to the range every 6 months or so, bring out a variety of stuff. Drill it in them that brass is extremely likely to end up on their tits. Ignore it. Keep the firearm pointed down range at all times. Kinda surprised I haven't heard from any of them since all this shit going down.

They shoot pretty well, but it's a shitty day when it's their turn to step up. Better than nothing, though. Some of them even love their students (in a non-illegal way), so the dice roll could be a good one, on average.

I don't like the idea, but really, the only idea I do like is one where kids don't do stupid shit like this.

I'll grant that those who teach come largely these days from a different stock, and the exceptions are far and few between.

My high school world history teacher was a Marine company commander in Korea. Hell, for show and tell one day he brought in an M2 carbine.

There are other adults in schools beside teachers such as janitors, lunchroom employees, mechanics at the bus barn etc. Some of them are not as liberal as teachers and some are good shooters, not all but some.
My Old Lady worked in school lunchrooms for years and I Goddamn gaurantee you that you don't want her pissed at you as she is well trained and a hell of a shooter. One of the janitors where she worked is an Iraq war Vet, meaner than hell and ALL of the kids know to stay out of his way and don't pull any kind of shit that may piss him off. He too is a really good shooter.

Normally...i just let it pass but tonight for some reason i will respond.

Many making the comments here have no idea what they are talking about.

Courage under fire...willing to protect others while knowing it would an honor to do it while still educating students....

Some of you need to know your audiance.... there are wolves in the midst of the flock.

We teach...we guide...we do not push agendas...we try our best to get them to think and research on their own to find the real answers to issues that they and we all face, no matter the subject/course material.

Some of us retired LEO and some still current Marines in my area. We watch over them like they are our own and make no mistake about it, there would be dire consequences in my area if these situations occurred.

The problem is we lack the numbers to fortify every location. Im in my early 40’s and retired LEO and in academia. My other educators are upper 60’s and 70’s. The skill set required to reapond they simply dont have and a few of us while better than none, can not be on a campus everywhere and all day.

Many locations have policies that prohibit an educator from carrying regardless of background and prior services. Its a road of conversation some have gone down in the past to no avail..

Some of us have seen things and actually been in things over our lives and careers...and many of the ones we now work for believe that it will never happen where we are. Its a hard mindset to change...but we continue to try.

Hopefully some see this and understand...many of us stay quiet and behind the scenes just enough so that we do not attract any more attention than needed but we are here/there in classes teaching, watching and ready.

Science teach was a hardass Marine.
Shop teacher was a no-nonsense Marine
Govt teacher was a Army Vietnam vet.

I would trust any of them with weapons. Those were just the ones I knew of. They are out there.
