MSNBC just showed a video of a female high school senior ranting about the lack of gun control at a rally in FT. Lauderdale. It makes me sick whenever the MSM parades these kids as subject matter experts.

Using the children is an age old tactic to push a narrative. That speech was cram packed full of misinformation, which will be gobbled up as "gospel" by those who are uninformed and unwilling to do their own research.
I pretty much make it a rule that when someone trots out "for our children", I go the opposite way.
Communists, fascists, tyrants, carbon cultists & other religious zealots all love trotting out ill informed young people who have been pumped with propaganda and are too stupid and uninformed to know any better as their spokes people to try to play the sympathy card.
Not to mention young people tend to be a bit on the crazed zealot side when all amped up by propaganda and have no experience to understand how stupid and being used they are.

I think David is a bit of an attention whore. He did an interview with Fox too.
Problem is he was likely nowhere near the incident, but wants to be on tv badly.......what’s a soft spoken guy to do, but get on tv and repeat things other people told him.....hard to keep it all straight after a few hours.

I also think it's time for a reinterpretation. Perhaps first start by legalizing an eye-for-an-eye policy. For instance, if someone is convicted of torture, I don't think visiting the same treatment upon them qualifies as cruel or unusual. If you get caught fighting dogs, then you end up in a cage with a few that might not have eaten for a couple of days. If you chain your kids up and starve them, then your remaining years are going to be extremely uncomfortable for you.
If you want to deter crime, then criminals need to fear the victim (ie those who exercise their second amendment rights) or they need to fear the consequences/punishment. Preferably both.

Dunno about eye for an eye as that can get carried away in a hurry, but it definitely shouldn't take much time after conviction to get executed, and the death penalty should be applied to more stuff like raping kids, and i might even be convinced that participation in organized crime and gang related things warrants it.

I'd says she knows a bit more about being involved in a mass shooting than most of us, and about the shit show that is the current background check system. One should admit too, that such events can, do, and shall change the way people think about things.
Most people on this site are experiential learners, or at least purport to be ... listening to experience with an open mind never hurts.

If course the pace is quickening. "The Swamp" is currently dealing with the one thing that they feared the most: a president who is not one of them. A president lawfully elected by the people and acting for the people. The attempts to unseat him through legitimate means have failed, and he is moving forward with policies that do NOT fit their agenda.
Those in power know full well that any attempt to remove President Trump without sufficient legitimate cause will be met with an armed resistance by enough patriots, that it will turn ugly. This is the exact reason why we have the 2A and why they fear it.
To those in power, disarming the people has never beem more important to their plans...

Leadership has decided to introduce a bill to the house this coming Monday, after announcing on Friday, that completely overhauls two major federal regulatory structures:
1. Application review for ATF’s 4473 licensing procedure for firearms dealers, making it incredibly more comprehensive (and expensive, by about $3,400); and
2. Review procedures and accessibility for the FBI’s NICS background check system for individual gun purchasers.
Part of the bill actually calls for amending HIPAA, allowing the FBI to access health and treatment history for all individual gun purchasers with a live application in the NICS system.
Everyone in the GCs office (where I am) is preparing for an onslaught from RKBA activists (i.e. cancelling corporate memberships, threatening legal action, etc).
Robert Brown (currently on board of directors, founder of Soldier of Fortune) caught wind of it and is threatening to resign and start his own group.
Underling but more notable Exec VP – LaPierre – will not be at the press conference. Not sure why, as he’s the face of the NRA, but I havne’t heard a good answer.
Friday was chosen as the announcement date for obvious reasons: give the hardline RKBA activists some time to settle down, and lobbyists time to prep congress for Monday.

I believe we're overthinking the situation, and need to go back and reexamine the basic premise.
Extremist political factions, with many diverse motivations, want to rearrange the way America thinks and acts.
They seize the opportunities which charge impulsive individuals and groups, dictate the issue and its phrasing to get their messages to come out of the mouths of those least likely to do anything but mouth off about their current cause junky fix.
...And because controversy is so very good at selling advertising, the media gives it the sharp focus, long running attention to not fact, but political cant, in as many flavors as they can manage, because airtime must be paid for with advertising, and hot tempers are always an easy sell on the tube.
The way to resolve this is to do what they claim to be doing, resist. They want us to change, so don't; and make it clear to the airheads that their facts don't stand up to practically any scrutiny, and that more of the same will not be tolerated amicably.

I was just about to send a couple hundred dollars over to the NRA and the NRA-ILA today after lunch.
So now I get to keep my money & wait, possibly give it to a couple other groups.
(Literally had my contributions in the outgoing mail box, pulling it out now).
The biggest thing for me is the stupid part 1 WHY on earth do they need to make it harder for FFLs and more expensive? That would do NOTHING to have stopped any previous actions by crazy people. The small FFLs trying to make a living do the same background checks as bigger corporate ones & often refuse people they are suspicious of at a greater rate than the big corporate box stores.
All that will do is greatly punish law abiding business owners, and destroy competition to let a few big corporations have a near complete stranglehold on our rights in some areas. Probably setting it up for gun control by back end deals with the few big stores remaining.
If the NRA goes full bore in supporting stupid useless regulations that just destroy small business & do nothing for our rights or to make anyone actually safer, they are going to have a much bigger problem on their hands.
The "big dicks" at the NRA may feel all important, but they best remember their "power" only comes because millions of gun owners back them with both money & votes. They could just as easily loose it all, just like the Republicans will if they forget who put them on their pedestals.
Now I have some great talking points next time they call asking for money.
