Just thought Id share this as someone requested it, and I know there are a lot of guys wondering what Freebore to run on a 7RSAUM with the 180 hybrid.

This is the PTG Match no turn reamer, 317 neck, 188 freebore, chambered to GO + .001". This barrel has maybe 50 rounds through it, so the throat is just broken in.

Youre not going to gain much with a longer freebore, unless you plan to shoot the bullet that doesnt exist yet, 195 hybrid. The 180 really cant be seated out much further than this if you want to keep a caliber of bearing surface in the neck.

Thanks for posting this! I have a couple questions:

How did you determine that the bullet is at the lands? Did you use some kind of a gage, or look for marks on the bullet from the lands, etc?

Also, how much shorter than the chamber is the case? Usually the cases are made shorter than spec and the reamers are made larger than spec, so sometimes there can be quite a gap.

Edit: This is a berger 180 hybrid in a 7WSM with a 0.150" fb. It yields ~3.145" cartridge length.

The oal was measured with a hornady oal gage.

The case length really doesn't matter for this measurement...but it's headspaced to go +.001 meaning the virgin brass is probably .003 or so shy of that.
