My two krinks went pending on or about 11/1/2011. I got the stamps on 4/15/2012, as I recall. Form 1's, obviously, but speedier than I thought, especially given the current onslaught of NFA apps.

I'd budget 5-6 months, assuming no hiccups and all paperwork is in order.

My dealer tells me the the BATFE is hiring contractors to do some background tasks so the examiners can focus on doing what they do best. Their goal is to get Form 4 wait times down to 1 month. I don't know if it's true, but if it is, it's certainly good news.

It is my belief that Obama plans to use "ATF Rulings" to effectively ban many modern weapons we all now take for granted. The same non-legislative process that made the Street Sweeper a destructive device could be used to reclassify other weapons as well.

We also know he has no interest in making our silencers/machine guns quicker to obtain. If the NFA branch does pull off a major up-staffing it could be preparations for my predicted move.

I do. I also understand the practicality of keeping certain things out of the hands of certain people. While I do not feel that suppressors should be in that classification, the ATF still insures that you are legally viable to own one and then issues permission to own it. I personally wouldn't want to get in trouble for obtaining something I wasn't legally able to possess. If it were a case of them actually withholding something to which you were legally entitled, it would be different, but the fact is they are still approving the requests being submitted, albeit slowly.

May sound elitist but I have no problem with NFA process other than length of time to process transfers and lack of post 86 transferables. If you can't manage the hoops maybe this isn't for you.

No kidding. It would seem there is a sentiment that it should be within everyone's human rights to get drunk and fire off that anti-tank weapon you bought from Joe Schmoe at the gun show. I don't have any problem with the ATF keeping that from happening.

Are you sure your dates are correct? 3 months to get them to cash your check? Usually thats done within 7-10 business day of them receiving the forms. I personally think they shouldn't be able to cash it until their are approved. Might be some incentive to work a little faster.

Wont matter what form variant you have. It matters what state your in and what that examiners work load is like. I always tell friends to budget about 7-8 months from door to door.

Yes sir, they are correct. I was more than a little anxious as I'm sure you probably know. At this point all I need is my info from my NFA dealer and I can find out what the deal is myself.

Not sure what is going on but my bank said that they don't remove the funds from my account and post the scanned copy until they get it back in either paper form or electronically. My dealer contacted the BATF after I informed them that as of 4-24-12 my check had not been cashed. The examiner said it was pending and that it couldn't be unless the check was cashed.

Must be a backlog of cashed check stubs??

Am I the only one that thinks that repeat business should get a fast track? Once you been checked and all your stuff is in order, should it not be easier to approve? Or maybe we should propose the capitalism approach and you can pay extra for priotity handling, USPS does, why not BATFE? Hah!

TAX MAN CAME..
he brought 4 stamps with him WOOOOHOOOO.
2 weeks ago BATFE called and wanted schedule A & B. I explained there was nothing in schedule A as he had the items in his hands. Schedule B didn't apply to NFA items and was irrevelant. so I sent blank forms of Schedule A and B. He was happy with that. I got my stamps yesterday.

Maybe you are lucky, and they lost your check, but still send you your tax stamp. The gov seems to misplace a lot of money, whats $200 to them.

Thats what I thought but it came to me. I had a problem with trust and sent the requested info and three days later my stamp was in my mail box. Gonna go pick up my can in two days.

I'm 4 months into a Form 1 and ran into a problem. I received a call from the ATF saying the signature of our First selectman(basically the Mayor) who is our CLEO was not valid anymore. It was fine for my previous 3 Form 4's, but ATF changed it up mid-stream. I now have to have the local Troop send it to the State Police Commissioner for his signature. So this should add another month to the 5 I was planning on. Heads up to anyone who lives in a town with the same issue (no local PD, resident Trooper Town, etc).Hope this saves someone from the same problem.

I have 2 form 4's pending. Do they send the stamp to the dealer or to you? My form 1's for SBRs came to me but I never really asked my dealer when I bought the cans.

Curious about what state as well. I am in GA so if the guy is maybe in the footprint for the examiner would like to know as well. My Gemtech Halo went pending the same date as anschutz64ms.
