Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Re: Form 4 wait time

my understanding was the fact i did not put an address of where the property would be located. i used a trust that i found on google and hoped for the best. after getting rejected i paid the lawyer to amend it

It must be something for your State since there are numerous trust's that have been accepted without an address on the trust itself.

Have you posted these data on nfatracker.com?
Who was your examiner?

Re: Form 4 wait time

I never let anyone handle the paperwork, I do all the leg work myself and submit via certified mail, that way at least I know it went out.

A friend had the same problem, dealer says they will handle it and a year later he still does not have his can but al least it is pending in the system now.

Yep, it's posted on NFA tracker. I think it's Sara Jones, but don't quote me on that.

THAT's reassuring. Pending date's just a couple days behind mine.

I miss the days of 37 day turnaround times.

Re: Form 4 wait time

normbal..... wont matter since we are in different states and you use a different examiner. Some are faster then others and some having better assistants then others, which is apparent.

Or some pick up a box and look through them real quick only to say... "let's try that box back there, it looks like less work."? Lol...

Re: Form 4 wait time

Don't remember exact dates, but submitted in early Sept got it back in late Feb. Took roughly 6 months.

The suppressor = $1200
The stamp = $200
The wait = 6 months
Having the suppressor = priceless

Yeah, well, I'll just go back to sitting by the phone again, waiting for my FFL to call.

My examiner is Dana Pickles. H'es been pretty fast in years past. You never know.

Re: Form 4 wait time

I've got Dana as well.... you might be in luck then. Althought I called the day it was approved and they said it was still pending. It took 3 days for it to show up in the system as approved

So how did you know it was approved? I thought calling them was the only means of obtaining such information....

side note here, has anyone had Mr. Shipman (William) as their examiner? NFA tracker had nothing current on his turn times. Just curious....

You ever get the feeling like it wasn't meant to be.... well thats how I feel. Could I assume 6 months or is he way behind the power curve?

thanks for checking KYS338.

Re: Form 4 wait time

Good news and bad today.............

BAD:
NFA Item: SF FA556-212 & FA762K
Form 4
Transfer Type: Individual
Forms Sent: 2-27-12
Check Cashed:3-7-12
Pending:?
SOT Receives Compliance signature error:8-8-12
SOT Resend Compliance paperwork: 8-8-12
Approved:
Stamps Received:
Examiner:

So on the 762 my SOT received an error notification on the compliance sheet. I missed a signature???? I would have bet the farm on that one. Not sure why I missed it and he did as well prior to mailing it in.

GOOD:
My Osprey 45 came in so I can get that paperwork and process going!

Re: Form 4 wait time

One of the basic tenets of business (read: job security), the amount of time required to complete a task is equal to, or greater than, the amount of time given for its completion.

If the examiners start to complete too many forms too soon, then it can be deduced that the amount of time required to complete a form is less than anticipated . . . therefore, the governing body could surmise, with certain logic, that fewer examiners could do the same amount of work. Now you guys aren't stupid, so you can see where this will lead, eventually . . . .

Yeah, but aren't they by law supposed to be turning these around within no more than 90 days? I was told that's why they got dragged in front of Congress about it, but maybe that was just a rumor.

I havn't called yet. Guess I will tomorrow. I've already accepted the fact that I probably won't get my hands on my suppressor until January.

Wonder if having the Chief of Police in my community endorse it, and that fact that I'm a carrer fireman will speed up the process? HA, FAT CHANCE!

Hate to burst your bubble but they don't go pending 3 days after being cashed.... I'd give it 4-6 weeks, then call and ask.

Re: Form 4 wait time

The only sage advice I can provide after being through the form 4 process four times is.....use a reputable dealer that has the can in stock.....my 15 month process ..... 7 for the ATF and 8 for the thieving class III dealer who took my money and didn't order the cans until I got AAC and the ATF involved....don't make the same mistake I did.

Picked up my can and rifles today. Crazy cool is all I can say. This is my first can and I am amazed. No one in the house even realized I was shooting my .260 in the backyard and with the adapter I ran it on my .22 with subsonic and all I could hear was the firing pin and bullet impact. The seven month wait was worth it all!
